Yeedi K700 Robot Vacuum & Mop

Let’s face it, cleaning isn’t exactly a fun task—for most of us, anyway. Still, it’s important that we do it, otherwise, things can quickly become filthy! Not only would it be unhygienic, but it can also affect our health in various ways. For example, dust mites can cause sneezing and other allergy symptoms.

The good news is that you don’t have to clean every day; once a week will do. With that said, you might want to do it more often if you have pets or kids. Don’t have time to do that with your busy schedule? Then perhaps you should invest in a robot cleaner! Basically, they’re robots that will clean the house for you. Sure, they might be more expensive than your average vacuum or mop, but surely the convenience is worth it? Depending on which model you get, you might even be able to control it with an app!

Thinking of going the robot route? Well then, you might find this post helpful. We’ll be reviewing the Yeedi K700, which is a robot vacuum cleaner and mop all-in-one. How strong is the suction? Does it mop well? What kind of floors can you use it on? Those are some of the things that we’ll be discussing below. So if you’re interested, make sure to read until the end!

The Yeedi K700 Robot Vacuum & Mop

Yeedi is a company that specializes in robot home cleaning systems. Made by Ecovacs, their products are one of the more affordable options available on the market today. Aside from this 2-in-1 model, they also offer the K600, which features Turbo Suction and the K650, a robot vacuum that comes with an extra-large dust bin. While they do have an official site, most if not all of their sales come from Amazon.

The Yeedi K700 is an intelligent robot cleaner that comes with a smart navigation system. More specifically, it uses camera mapping technology to map its surroundings. In doing so, it’s able to plan a clear path for more efficient cleaning. Not only is it capable of vacuuming the ground, but it also comes with a mopping mode that you can use on hard floors. What’s more, is that it comes with a smart sterilizing system. That is, it’s capable of blocking 99% of all allergens. It also comes with a remote control for your convenience.

What’s Included

Here are all of the bits and pieces that you’ll get with the Yeedi K700.

  • 1 Cleaning Robot
  • 1 Docking station
  • Two Side Brushes
  • Two Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
  • Mopping reservoir
  • Remote control (batteries included)
  • 1 Multi-Function Cleaning tool
  • Instruction Manual

Using the K700 For the First Time: Start by removing the protective strip on the robot. From there, install the side brushes before placing it on the docking station for charging. Once the battery is fully charged, the white light on the front will turn off (it will flash while it’s charging).

As with all robot cleaners, the K700 comes with a docking station, which you’ll want to place along the edge of a wall. Make sure that there aren’t any obstacles beside and in front of it the station, otherwise, the robot won’t be able to find its way back. One great thing about the dock is that there is a spot at the back for you to wrap up the extra cord.

And then there are the two side brushes. As you can see the images, they go on the left and right sides of the robot. Basically, they’re responsible for feeding debris and particles to the vacuum. In other words, the robot won’t be able to clean properly without them.

They also supply you with two microfiber pads that you can use for mopping. Basically, all you have to do is stick the cloth onto the mop bin (there are velcro strips). Once you’ve done that, fill the mopping reservoir aka tank by lifting the lid on the backside. To do that, you’ll have to take the reservoir out of the unit. When you’re finished filling it up, place it back into the robot.

As mentioned earlier, it also comes with a remote control. You can use it to turn on the robot, enable edge cleaning mode, spot cleaning mode, or return to charger mode. There’s also a multi-function cleaning tool that you can use to clean the brushes and rollers.

Smart Features

Camera Mapping Technology

The K700 comes with a smart navigation system that utilizes camera mapping technology. In other words, it doesn’t move randomly; it cleans using a regular zigzag pattern. That way, there won’t be any missed spots.

Infrared Sensor Monitors

The robot is equipped with multiple infrared sensors that allow it to identify obstacles. That way, you won’t have to worry about it colliding with your furniture and other objects. There’s also a look-down sensor that’s capable of identifying stairs.

Automatic Recharge

The Yeedi K700 will automatically return to the charging station if the battery gets low or when it’s done cleaning; you won’t have to bring it back manually.

Potential Issues With the Yeedi K700

The Yeedi K700 does have a few drawbacks. Here’s what you need to know.

It’s Not Capable of Resuming Cleaning

The K700 will return to the docking station once the battery runs low, however, it won’t go back to where it left off after charging (it won’t resume the previous cleaning job). Instead, it’ll start cleaning from the beginning once you press start.

The Mopping Function Isn’t Very Useful

Unfortunately, the mopping function isn’t very useful. If anything, the robot just drags a slightly damp towel across the floor. It might be able to remove some dust here and there but it won’t be able to do anything major. For example, don’t expect it to be able to get rid of any stains. Also, it’s not able to discern between hard floors and carpet so it might end up mopping your carpets or rugs as well.

It Has Trouble Returning to the Dock Sometimes

Sometimes, the robot will have difficulty returning to the dock on its own. Depending on where it is, you may even have to help it out by manually placing it near the charging station. Once the camera gets a visual, it’ll be able to dock.

It’s Not the Best For Fur

The robot isn’t the best when it comes to fur. That is, it will get tangled with the brushes, which will affect its performance. When that happens, you’ll have to stop it and cut everything off with a pair of scissors.

The Side Brushes Can Get Stuck On Rugs

The side brushes on the side can get stuck on rugs, especially if they’re thick and shaggy. So it’s probably a good idea to get them out of the way before you start the robot.

The Suction is Not the Strongest

The suction is not the greatest. It’s capable of removing dust and small particles but that’s about it. Don’t expect it to get rid of any large debris. But then again, that’s the case with most robot cleaners. At least the dust bin is on the larger side.

It’s Hard to Contact the Company

Yeedi offers a 12-month warranty, however, many people have noted that it’s very difficult (if not impossible) to get in touch with the company. They don’t seem to answer emails and the contact us button on their website doesn’t work.

Does It Clean Well?

Mopping

As mentioned earlier, it’s not the best for mopping. For one thing, the microfiber cloth doesn’t really get all that wet. Not only that, but the pad is rather thin; you won’t want to rely on it completely. If anything, it’s more for cleaning between actual mopping sessions.

Vacuuming

The K700 comes with two different suction modes—normal and turbo. The former is rated at 1000pa while the latter is double that. To activate the extra suction, all you have to do is press the power button twice. Unfortunately, there’s no way to turn it on with the remote.

Performance-wise, it does a relatively good job of removing loose debris. The dust bin is also a good size so that you won’t have to constantly empty it out. There’s also an internal filter that collects the dust and dirt that’s been sucked into the vacuum.

Maintaining the Yeedi K700

The K700 requires regular maintenance. Take the side brushes, for example, that have to be maintained every two weeks. As for the main brush, you want to clean it on a weekly basis. In addition to that, you also want to clean the sponge filter, sensors, bumper, wheels, and docking station pins once per week.

Tip: You can use the multi-function cleaning tool that they provide you with to clean the robot. Just be careful of the sharp edges.

Cost and Pricing Information

The Yeedi K700 retails for $349.99, which makes it their most expensive cleaning model. With that said, it does go on sale frequently. In fact, it’s currently on sale on Amazon for $299.99—plus there’s a $100 coupon! Shipping is also free so there aren’t any extra charges aside from tax.

As far as accessories go, you can find replacements on Amazon. For example, you can get an extra kit that includes three filters, four side brushes and one main brush for $50. Extra microfiber mopping pads are also available, though they’re slightly expensive at $30 for three.

The Yeedi K700 is a 2-in-1 robot cleaner that both vacuums and mops. Featuring a smart navigation system, it’s capable of mapping its surroundings for more efficient cleaning. While it doesn’t come with an app, it does come with a remote control with which you can control the unit. Not to mention that it has the ability to return to the docking station when the battery runs low. Keep in mind, however, that it does not have the function to resume cleaning after charging. Also, the mopping mode is average at best. If anything happens, it’ll be hard to contact the company as well. For what it’s priced at (especially if you manage to get it on sale), however, it can be a decent cleaning machine.
