Yeedi K650 Robot Vacuum Review

Smart appliances are becoming more and more popular—the robot vacuum being one of them! If anything, it’ll save you a lot of time. Instead of having to clean the floor yourself, you can just press a button and let it do the work for you.

As if that wasn’t great enough, many of them also come with advanced features. For one thing, most are equipped with advanced sensors that allow it to detect changes in the surface. That’s not all, some can be controlled via an app. In other words, you’ll be able to control it with your smartphone! How’s that for convenient?

Other Reasons Why You Should Get a Robot Vacuum:

  • Their small size allows them to clean in tight spots
  • Some allow you to set boundaries with virtual walls
  • Great for individuals with mobility issues as they’re autonomous
  • You can program it so that it’ll clean the house while you’re away
  • Can be used on most floor types
  • They’re compact and easy to store, even with the charging station

The Yeedi K650 Robot Vacuum

Yeedi is a relatively new tech company that’s known for their robot vacuums. Currently, they offer three models—the K600 (vacuum), K650 (vacuum), and K700 (vacuum and mopping). And rest assured, they do offer a 1-year limited warranty for all their products so if anything happens, you can send it in to get it fixed. Also, all their robots come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. In other words, you can try them out without worry!

Product Description

The Yeedi K650 is a robot vacuum that you can use on various surfaces including carpet, hardwood, tiles, and more. What sets it apart from other models? It comes with an extra-large 800ml dustbin. In other words, you won’t have to empty it nearly as often. Not only that, but it comes with a silicone tangle-free brush that handles pet hair with ease. Plus, it’s equipped with a triple-filter system that’s capable of capturing up to 99% of all allergens. If anything, that’s what makes it an ideal choice for pet owners.

What’s In the Box?

Here’s a list of everything that you’ll get with the Yeedi K650:

  • 1 Main Robot
  • 1 Docking Station and Power Adapter
  • 2 Side Brushes
  • 1 Tangle-free Brush
  • 1 HEPA Filter and 1 Sponge Filter

Let’s start off by taking a look at the actual robot. At the front, is the sensor and bumper and on the top, is the auto mode button. Flip the unit over and you’ll be able to see the wheels and the main brush. As far as the dustbin goes, it’s located at the back of the unit. To take it out, press the release button on the end.

Then there’s the docking station. Aside from the charging contacts, it also has an infrared signal emitter that allows the robot to make its way back home. To use it, connect the power adapter to the port and plug it into the wall. The whole thing should be placed on a flat surface in an area free of obstacles.

Next, the side brushes. As you can see from the above image, the K650 has two of them, one on each side and you will have to install them. And by that, we mean click them into their respective slots.

As for the tangle-free brush, that will already be installed in the robot; you won’t have to do anything with it. The same goes for the HEPA and sponge filter—they will come pre-installed in the dustbin. You won’t have to take them out unless you’re cleaning them (which we’ll talk more about later).

Smart Features

How smart is the Yeedi K650? Let’s have a look.

Infrared Sensors

The Yeedi K650 comes with a full set of sensors that allow it to navigate your home safely. You won’t have to worry about it falling down the stairs or bumping into furniture.

Automatic Recharge

The robot vacuum will automatically return to the charging dock when the power is low. In doing so, it’ll always be charged and ready to go. Keep in mind, however, that this particular model does not have a charge and resume function.

Mobile App Control

The K650 can be connected to the Yeedi app via Wi-Fi. In other words, you can control it remotely via your smartphone. For example, you can use it to monitor the robot’s status or to schedule cleanings.

Voice Control

The robot vacuum is compatible with Amazon Alexa. That is, you can control it with voice commands. All you have to do is sync it with your device.

A Few Drawbacks With the Yeedi K650

The K650 is decent for its price, however, it does have a few cons. Here are some that people have pointed out.

No Smart Mapping

The robot vacuum does not have a smart mapping feature. This means that it will clean in a random pattern as opposed to neat rows. As a result, there may be some missed spots here and there. Also, it has trouble transitioning between hardwood and carpet.

Battery Life Is Short

The K650 does not last the advertised 130 minutes. Even if you use the lowest setting, it’ll last 90 minutes max. Switch it to the highest suction power, and the number will drop even more.

It Isn’t Always Able to Find Its Way Home

The vacuum won’t always be able to go back to the charging station. 9 times out of 10, it’ll get lost if it’s out of the room where the base is. If anything, this seems to be a common problem, according to Amazon reviews.

It Gets Stuck Easily

The robot tends to get stuck a lot. For example, it can get stuck underneath the couch and if that happens, you’ll have to rescue it. Also, it has a tendency of eating cords and wires so make sure that they’re off the floor before you press the start button!

Note: The sensors don’t seem to work that well when the battery is low—it’ll bump into things more often.

App Is Glitchy

The Yeedi app isn’t the best. In fact, many people have had problems setting it up. Even if you manage to install it, it might not let you log in, which will render it useless. And to make matters worse, the app is the only way to change cleaning modes, set up cleaning schedules, etc. Without it, all you can do is turn the robot ona nd off.

No Notifications

The app won’t give you any notifications if the vacuum becomes stuck or if the brushes get tangled—you’ll have to figure it out yourself once you find it.

Not That Great For Pet Hair

The K650 isn’t the best at removing pet hair—the suction power simply isn’t enough, even if you put it on max. This is especially true if you have carpet (it runs a bit better on hard floors).

Not the Best For Edge Cleaning

The K650 comes with an “Edge Mode” but you won’t be able to select it if you’re scheduling in advance. Even when you are able to use it, it doesn’t work that well.

It’s A Bit Noisy

The robot vacuum isn’t the quietest. Depending on your tolerance level, you might find it to be on the noisy side.

How to Use the Yeedi K650 Robot Vacuum

The K650 is pretty easy to set up. First things first, you want to install the docking station. Plug the power adaptor into the port and plug the other end into the wall. Allow the robot to charge for 4 hours before use.

Once it’s charged, you can start a cleaning session by pressing on the auto button on the top of the unit or by using the app.

Does It Clean Well?

The suction isn’t the best, but it is powerful enough to get rid of dirt and dust. Pet hair, however, is a different story. Chances are, it’ll remain on the floor. Another thing is that it cleans in a random pattern. For example, it might clean some areas more than once and leave others untouched. So don’t expect it to get every inch of the room.

Who Would We Recommend the Yeedi K650 To?

  • Those who do not have pets
  • Those who have hard floors
  • Those who live in a small apartment or condo

Cost and Pricing Information

The Yeedi K650 is relatively inexpensive with a retail price of $219.99 (the cheapest Roomba with WiFi connectivity goes for $350). From time to time, it also gets discounted on Amazon. In fact, there’s currently a lightning deal as we speak, which brings the total to $150!

As far as replacement parts go, you can find them in their Amazon shop. More specifically, they sell replacement kits, which include 4 side brushes, 1 main brush, and 3 HEPA filters for $50. If you look around, there might also be some from a third-party brand that you can use.

The Yeedi K650 is an affordable robot vacuum for those who are on a budget. Not only does it come with a silicone brush, which is more resistant against tangles, but it also comes with an extra-large dustbin. And in terms of controls, there’s a mobile app that you can use with your smartphone. Keep in mind, however, that it is a bit glitchy—that is, don’t expect it to work as well as Roomba’s. For one thing, it won’t always connect to the WiFi. Also, it won’t give you any notifications if the robot’s stuck or caught in something.
