X3 Flat Floor Mop and Bucket Set Review

Wet mopping is the best way to remove dirt, dust, pet dander, and pollen from the floor. How often should you do it? At least once a week—for high-traffic areas (e.g. kitchens, hallways), anyway. That way, you’ll be able to keep allergens at bay.

What kind of mop should you get? It depends. For example, you probably won’t want to get a steam mop if you have unsealed hardwood—the heat and moisture can easily damage the material. The good news is that there are several other options available, some of which are more versatile than others.

Take microfiber mops, for instance, they can pretty much be used on all surfaces. Some of them even come with a wringer so that you can wring out the pad without dirtying your hands!

In fact, that’s the type of mop that we’ll be talking about today! More specifically, we’ll be taking a closer look at the X3 Flat Floor Mop and Bucket Set. How well does the wringer work? Is the handle extendable? What about accessories—does it come with any? Find out by reading our review!

The X3 Flat Floor Mop and Bucket Set

The X3 Mop and Bucket System is manufactured by TopTier, a US-based company that specializes in various household products. For example, they also sell spray mops, sink caddies, lights, and more. And all of their products come with a lifetime product warranty so if anything happens, you can get a replacement for free.

Product Description

The X3 Floor Mop comes with a bucket that features a three-chamber water system. In other words, you’ll never have to worry about the clean water mixing with the dirty water. Not only that, but you can actually adjust the amount of water in the washing chamber—all you have to do is twist the knob on the side. And when you’re done with the bucket, you can empty the dirty water with the built-in drain plug at the bottom. As for the actual mop, it comes with a 360-degree swivel head that allows you to get into those hard-to-reach areas.

What’s In the Box?

Here’s what you’ll get as part of the mop and bucket set:

  • 1 Microfiber Mop
  • 1 Bucket System
  • 3 Reusable Mop Pads

Assembly: Attach the handle pieces together (if necessary, you can also use the pole extension piece); the bottom of the pole should be inserted into the mop base. Once you’ve done that, attach a mop pad—there are velcro strips at the bottom that will hold it in place. Finally, you can set up the bucket, and by that, we mean to put on the lid.

As far as the actual mop goes, it’s pretty self-explanatory. The mop pad attaches to the bottom and there’s a hook at the top, which you can use to hang up the mop. And for those who are wondering, the handle is extendable (it measures approx. 120cm with the extension piece).

Then there’s the bucket. If you look at it from the top, you’ll see the three chambers (there’s a place for clean water, mop water, and dirty water). Also, there’s the dial, which you can use to adjust the water level. And at the very bottom is the built-in drain plug.

As for the mop pads, they’re made of a soft, microfiber fabric. Machine washable, you can put them in the laundry when you’re done. In other words, you won’t have to waste money on disposable pads!

And that’s about it! As you can see, it doesn’t come with a cleaning solution so you will have to provide your own.

Build Quality

Mops are not all the same; some are cheaper than others and it can be quite obvious when you look at the product. That’s why it’s always better to check it out in person. Ideally, you want to buy something with a stainless steel or aluminum pole as they tend to last longer.

How Well Built Is the X3 Flat Floor Mop And Bucket System?

The X3 Floor Mop is pretty typical in that it comes with a stainless steel shaft and a plastic head. As for the bucket, it’s also made of plastic, including the wringer portion. In other words, it can break. The good news is that the company does offer a lifetime warranty so you can always get a replacement if something happens.

And really, we don’t have any complaints about the mop pads. The microfiber fabric is soft and it’s a nice thickness. Also, it’s machine washable, which makes cleaning them a breeze.

Pros Of the X3 Flat Floor Mop

The Chambers Work Well: You never have to worry about the clean water mixing with the dirty water. And with a quick turn of the knob, you can easily add more clean water to the middle section, where you can rinse your mop.

Rotating Mop Head: The mop head swivels 360 degrees so you can easily reach behind and around objects.

Versatile Design: The mop isn’t just for the floor. You can also use it to clean ceilings, windows, and other surfaces (remember, you can use it both wet and dry).

Small And Compact: The X3 floor mop is fairly small compared to other mops and this makes it easy to move and store. Also, it’s quite lightweight so it won’t hurt your arms or back while you’re using it.

Telescoping Handle: Like we said earlier, the handle is extendable so you can adjust its length based on your height. That way, it’ll be easier on your back when you’re cleaning.

A Few Drawbacks

As great as it may be, however, it does have a few flaws, which we’ll be pointing out below.

Small Bucket

The bucket isn’t very big. In other words, you will have to refill it every now and then when you’re cleaning, especially if you have a large house.

Small Mop Head

The mop head itself is also small, which means that it can take a while for you to clean a room (it doesn’t cover much area).

You Can Only Clean Half a Pad At a Time

The middle compartment (where you rinse the mop pad) is only deep enough for one-half of the pad. To clean the other half, you’ll have to manually rotate the mop pad by hand and put it back into the chamber, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a hands-free wringer in the first place.

Quality Issues

The stainless handle isn’t super flimsy but it isn’t super durable either. In fact, several people have said that theirs broke in half after just a few uses.

The Lid Can Come Off

The lid for the bucket isn’t super secure. In fact, it can come off when you’re trying to wring the mop. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to happen every time.

No Wheels

The bucket can be hard to carry as it doesn’t come with any wheels (it does have handles, though).

Possible Leaks

Water can leak out from the bottom if the built-in drain plug isn’t properly inserted at the bottom.

Not Very Affordable

The X3 Mop isn’t very cheap as far as microfiber mops go (for more information, check out the cost and pricing section).

Does It Clean Well?

The mop works well for the most parts (we highly recommend vacuuming beforehand). While the mop head is on the small side, it rotates easily and fits into tight corners. Keep in mind, however, that it’s not meant for scrubbing. In other words, you will need something else for stuck-on messes and stains.

The only thing is that you can only dip half of the mop head into the water chamber at a time (i.e. you’ll have to rotate it in order to get the whole thing wet.)

Who Would We Recommend It To?

  • Those who are looking for something small and compact
  • Those who want something with a telescoping handle
  • Those who don’t want to wring the mop head by hand

Cost and Pricing Information

The X3 Flat Floor Mop sells for $64.95 so it’s not the cheapest mop that you can get. With that said, its price does go down from time to time. In fact, it’s currently on sale for about $52 on Amazon. Delivery is also free.

The only thing is that their mop refills can be a bit hard to find (they’re no longer available on Amazon). If you search around, however, you might be able to find one from a third-party brand that fits.

Our Take
The X3 Flat Floor Mop is special in that it comes with a three-chamber bucket system. In other words, the clean and dirty water will never mix. And with the twist of a knob, you can control the amount of water that goes into the washing chamber. As for the mop itself, it comes with three mop pads and a telescoping handle. Keep in mind, however, that it is on the small side. Also, the way the bucket is designed, you can only fit half of the mop head into the chamber at one time (you’ll have to rotate it manually).
