Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop Review

Dirty floors can easily go unnoticed. That’s why you want to clean them regularly—that prevents germs from growing and dirt from building up. On top of that, it prevents allergens such as dust, pollen, and pet hair from getting into the air, which can affect your health.

As far as how to clean your floors, it depends on the type of floor that you have. Assuming that you have hard floors (e.g. linoleum, vinyl, hardwood), you’ll want to clean with a mop. If anything, it’s the best way to sanitize the surface. There are a number of different kinds as well, each of which has its own special features. For instance, steam mops are capable of killing germs with the power of steam. In contrast, other mop types have to be used with soap.

On this page, though, we will be focusing on the spin mop. Basically, they use a spinning action to clean and polish your floors. At the same time, they’re gentle enough so that they won’t damage your textured floors. On top of that, they don’t require as much water!

Thinking of getting one? Consider the Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop—it’s what we’ll be reviewing in this post! Read on and hopefully, you’ll be able to determine whether or not it’s a good fit for you.

The Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop

Vmai might not be a “big brand” per se but they’re slowly making themselves known online. What’s interesting, though, is that they don’t seem to manufacture that many products. In fact, the only other thing that they’re selling on Amazon is a mini projector. Given that, it’s hard to tell exactly what it is that they specialize in.  They don’t have an official website either so not much is known about the company.

But let’s talk about their spin mop. Designed for most hard floors, it comes with a LED light that allows you to easily spot stains. There are two main functions—wet mopping and floor waxing. To use them, simply press one of the buttons on the handle. With that, the high-powered dual-spin motors will begin to clean automatically. You can use them for most floor surfaces including marble, hardwood, vinyl, and tile. It’s also worth mentioning that the handle is adjustable so you can use it with ease. When the battery goes low, you can take it out of the mop and charge it separately.

What’s Included

Here’s what you’ll get alongside the Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop:

  • 1 Wet Mopping Pad
  • 1 Floor Polishing Pad
  • 1 Integrated Water Tank
  • 1 Measuring Cup
  • 1 Charger
  • 1 Detachable Battery

Assembling the Mop: The spin mop needs to be put together in that you have to attach the upper aluminum tube with the lower aluminum tube. Simply insert the former into the latter- you’ll hear a click when it’s in place.

As listed above, you get two separate mop pads. The pink one is for wet mopping while the blue one is for polishing. The difference is obvious, once you look at them (besides the color). For one thing, the pink one has a fuzzy border that allows it to clean better. Attaching them is easy- just use the velcro on the bottom to keep them in place.

As far as the water tank goes, it’s integrated into the machine. To fill it up, lift the grey lid on the top—you’ll see a small opening. For the best results, use the small measuring cup that’s included with the mop.

Last but not least, there’s the charger. Seeing as how the spin mop is cordless, you’ll have to charge the battery first before using it. As mentioned earlier, you don’t have to lug the whole thing to the charger since the battery is detachable. You can charge it separately and put it back into the mop once it’s charged.

Build Quality of the Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop

The spin mop has a relatively simple design. At the top, you’ve got the handle, which is made from plastic (this is the case for most mops). Move down and you’ll reach the aluminum pole—this is one of the greatest things about its design. After all, aluminum is known for its durability. In other words, you probably won’t run into any issues with it. It’s also lightweight so that the mop is free-standing.

And on the bottom, you’ve got the mop base. Similar to the handle, it’s made from plastic. To be more specific, there are two “parts” to the base—the white portion and the grey portion, the latter of which comes into contact with the mop pads.

Speaking of mop pads, they’re also decent in terms of quality. They’re not super thick but are thick enough to get the job done. The only thing is that you have to center them on the base, otherwise, they might get pulled off to one side when you’re using the mop.

Some Drawbacks with the Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop

The Vmai Cordless Electric Spin Mop does have a few cons and we’ll be going over them below.

Battery Life

The electric spin mop suffers a common issue with cordless devices—that is, the battery doesn’t last very long. Even if it’s fully charged, you’ll only get around 20 minutes of battery life, which is lacking. You definitely won’t be able to clean the entire house with it.

It’s Almost Impossible to Get Additional Batteries

An easy solution to the battery problem is to get more than one battery. That way, you can just switch it once the first one dies. There’s just one issue—additional batteries are almost impossible to come by. You won’t be able to find them in their Amazon store; the only way to get a second battery would be to purchase another spin mop, which isn’t worth it if all you want is just another battery.

Trigger Button

The mop comes with a trigger that sprays water/cleaner onto the ground if it’s pressed. That’s good and all but it’s placed right next to the on/off switch so you can easily get the two mixed up when you’re not looking (the trigger is not below the handle like most mops). To make matters worse, the machine can stop working if you turn it on and off too much—it even says that in the directions!

It Can be Hard to Control

The spin mop is a little different from other mops in that sometimes it will move like it has a mind of its own. So there’s a slight learning curve. After a while, however, you’ll get a hang of how to guide it around the room.

Automatically Shuts Down

Be careful when you’re steering it because if it hits something, there’s a chance that it will shut down. At first, I thought there was something faulty with it but apparently it’s some sort of safety mechanism. When that happens, you’ll have to wait a few minutes before restarting it.

It Can Stop Spinning Sometimes

While the mopping function works, it tends to stop if there’s too much pressure is on the motor. This is actually mentioned in their troubleshooting guide. To fix the issue, you’ll have to unplug it and plug it back in after a few seconds.

Water Tank Lid is Fragile

The water tank is integrated into the mop. To access it, you have to flip open the grey lid—just be careful when you’re doing it because it’s rather fragile. If it breaks, there will be no way for you to replace it.

Does It Clean Well?

Wet Mopping

Overall, I’d say that it does a decent job of mopping. The water tank is decently sized and you can use it with most cleaners. The trigger also makes it easy to apply it to the floor. Sure, it’s a bit difficult to steer but it’s not impossible. Dirt, pet hair, dust, crumbs, etc, it can pick up most things. Having said that, I would recommend that you use a vacuum beforehand.

Since the mopping pad is made from microfiber, you can also wash it once it gets grungy (and it will). Make sure not to lose it, though, as they don’t offer replacements!

Floor Polishing

The polishing function also seems to work well. For the most parts, it won’t leave any streak marks on the floor. Rather, it’ll have a luster. Keep in mind, however, that the exact results depend on the kind of floor that you have. For example, it seems to polish non-textured floors a little better than those that are texturized.

Given its compact size, it’d make a good spin mop for those who’re living in a small condo or apartment. It’s also able to stand by itself so that also saves you a bit of space.

Cost and Pricing Information

The Vmai Electric Spin Mop has a price of $149.99—this makes it a little pricier than the other ones that are on the market (some you can get for under $100). If you check the listing often, however, you might be able to find it on sale. In fact, there’s a $10 coupon that you can use at the time of this writing. Like most Amazon products, it also qualifies for free shipping so there’s that as well.

In terms of other costs, there really aren’t any—aside from the cleaner maybe, but for that, you can pretty much use anything. Remember, Vmai doesn’t offer any additional mopping pads, polishing pads, or batteries. Even if you wanted to get some, you won’t be able to get any. So yeah, just keep that in mind if you plan on getting the electric mop.

Our Take
The Vmai Electric Spin Mop is convenient to use in that it’ll do all of the cleaning for you—you just have to steer it. Once you’re done mopping, you can also use it to polish and wax the floors. Just switch the pad, press the button on the handle, and off you go. It’s suitable for pretty much all hard floors including tile, marble, vinyl, and hardwood. In terms of drawbacks, its battery life isn’t great. At most, you’ll get 30 minutes out of a full battery. Speaking of battery, there’s also no way to get an additional one without having to buy a whole new unit.
