Turbo Mops Microfiber Mop Pads Refill Review

Mops are probably one of the most underrated tools in the house. Not only are they great for mopping up spills, but they are fantastic at getting rid of stains. For the most parts, they can also be used wet or dry, depending on what you’re trying to clean. Made out of soft, absorbent materials such as sponge or microfiber, they are generally safe to use on most floor types including hardwood, linoleum, vinyl, and tile. As a matter of fact, many of them can be used for other surfaces such as ceilings, walls—even cars! Remember, maintaining a clean home is important for our general health. After all, too must dust can lead to allergies and other symptoms.

Generally speaking, there are two different types of mops—ones that use disposable pads and ones that use reusable pads. When it comes down to cleaning, both are just as effective at getting rid of dirt and debris. As you can imagine, however, disposable pads can add up quick, price-wise. Take Swiffer for example—a pack of refills typically cost around $10. Assuming that you use a pack a month, that would work out to be ~$120 a year. Multiply this by however many years you’ll be using the mop, and you can see how it can make a dent in your wallet. Aside from cost, disposable pads are also not good for the environment. Did you know that more than 12 billion of them are buried in landfills every year?

Ultimately, this is why many people have started to opt for mops that use reusable pads. Instead of having to constantly buy refills, you can just toss the cloth into the wash when you’re done cleaning. Given that you avoid fabric softeners and bleach, they should last you many months. Also, you’ll be doing your part to help protect the environment!

On this page, we will be taking a look at a particular type of mop pad refill. More specifically, the ones for the Turbo Microfiber Mop. How effective are they at lifting away grime? Can they be used on other types of mops? These are some of the things that we’ll be answering in our review.

Turbo Mops Microfiber Mop Pad Refills

Turbo Mops is dedicated to providing consumers with durable cleaning tools—ones that are built to last. Not only that, but they believe in providing value. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the company uses nothing but high grade aluminum alloy and non-recycled moulded parts for their products. Currently, they manufacture two different types of mops—one that features a spraying mechanism and another that comes with an extendable handle. Despite their differences, they both use the same type of microfiber replacement pads (they are also compatible with scrub pads but we won’t be talking about them too much in this post).

The Turbo Microfiber Mop Pad Refills comes in packs of two and four. There are a couple of sizes to choose from—12” and 18”, the latter of which is recommended for mop heads between the length of 14” and 18”. Soft and absorbent, they can be used to clean almost any floor type including hardwood, laminate, bamboo, cement, tile, and stone. Don’t worry, they will not leave any scratches on the surface. Machine washable, they can easily be reused up to 100 times! Just take the pad off  and machine wash with cold or hot water. Once it air dries, it’ll be ready to be used again.

Build Quality

Compared to other cleaning pads, these ones are noticeably thick. As you can imagine, this makes them much more absorbent, something that comes in handy when you’re wet mopping the floor. Made out of a polyester nylon and microfiber blend, they naturally attract all kinds of dirt and dust. Perhaps the greatest highlight of all, however, is how the pad is designed. Unlike some of the other ones out there, it features a unique looped design, which allows it to grip onto almost any type of mess.

Attaching the Turbo Microfiber Pads is easy. At the bottom of the mop, there are two large velcro strips. Ultimately, all you have to do is line it up so that the pad sits nicely on the head. Press the cloth firmly, and it should stick on securely.

Note: The Turbo Microfiber Mop Pads can be used with any mop that has a head between 14” and 18” in length. As long as it has a velcro at the bottom, the pads can be attached. For instance, you can use it for Bona, Rubbermaid, Xflow, and Libman models.

Does it Clean Well?

The Turbo Microfiber Mop Pads do an excellent job on almost any type of floor. Aside from dry mopping, which is good for getting rid of dust and small particles, you can use it wet by spraying a bit of water or cleaner to the cloth. If you decide to do the latter, you’ll be happy to know that the pad is also easy to wring. With a single pass, the looped microfibers will pick up a significant amount of dirt and grime. When you’re finished with the job, toss it into the washing machine for easy cleaning.

Cost and Price Information

The Turbo Microfiber Mop Pads are not particularly cheap, however, they are not overly expensive either. Unless it’s on sale, a pack of two will cost you $24.99 on their official website—this works out to be around $12.50 each. Alternatively, you can grab them on Amazon, where they’re available as both a two-pack and a four-pack.

Note: Turbo also sells replacement scrub pads for their microfiber mops—these are a bit cheaper at $9.99 for two.
