Turbo Microfiber Mop Review

Keeping the house clean not only impresses guests, but it is important for our physical health. For instance, it’s not uncommon for dust mites to trigger asthma in some people. As it is, there will always be specks of dirt and dirt on the floor no matter how clean we keep our home. With that said, it is possible to minimize the amount of grime by doing regular cleaning. Fortunately, in this day and age, we no longer have to rely on traditional tools such as the mop and bucket combo; there are much better gadgets out there that we can use instead. For one thing, there’s the microfiber mop. Not only is it light and easy to use, but it picks up a significant amount of particles off of the floor.

On this page, we will be taking a look at one of our top picks—the Turbo Microfiber Mop. Commercial-grade, it allows you to easily keep the house clean no matter what type of flooring you have. As a matter of fact, it can even be used on other surfaces such as windows, tables, and ceilings! How effective is it at lifting dust and debris, though? Is the cleaning pad well constructed? What sets it apart from other microfiber mops? Stay tuned—these are all things that we’ll be going over in this post.

The Turbo Microfiber Mop

Turbo Mops is a business start-up that is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since their launch, the company, which is owned by Standard Modern, has developed a number of gadgets, all of which are made with high-quality aluminium alloy. Built to last, their products are designed to withstand even the most rigorous of cleaning sessions. Today, they manufacture two different models at their partner facility in Taiwan—the microfiber mop and the turbo spray microfiber mop. Featuring reusable pads, both of these mops helps to minimize the impact on the environment.

The Turbo Microfiber Mop is great for a variety of surfaces including laminate, tile, hardwood, bamboo, stone, and more. Incredibly lightweight, it can be used both wet and dry to keep your floors clean. With its 360-degree spin head, cleaning under baseboards and sofas will be a breeze; you can even reach the ceiling fan with its adjustable handle. For those stubborn messes, it also comes with a scrub pad that helps to break down the filth. Featuring a unique looped design, the mop not only picks up dirt and debris but is excellent at removing animal hair. Did we also mention that the entire thing is eco-friendly?

What’s Included

The Turbo Microfiber Mop kit comes with all that you’ll need to get started. More specifically, you’ll be getting:

  • 2 Premium Microfiber Cleaning Pads
  • 2 Heavy Duty Scrub Pads

Upon opening the package, you’ll notice that the mop comes as two different parts. To assemble the unit, insert the rod into the head. From there, all that you have to do is secure it with a screw. Incredibly straightforward, the whole process really shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

As noted above, the mop comes with four cleaning pads. Attaching them is easy—if you flip the head over, you’ll notice that there are two long strips of velcro at the bottom; press the pad onto the velcro, there should be a strong grip. As long as it’s done properly, it should not come loose when you’re mopping. Of course, replacements are available for purchase when they wear out.

For everyday cleaning, it comes with two heavy-duty microfiber pads. Ultimately, these pads are unique in that they feature Microfiber Gripping Technology. That is, the pad is made up of over 10,000 fiber loops that are designed to grip onto almost anything on the floor. In other words, you can say goodbye to the dirt and dust that is on the ground! As mentioned earlier, the kit also comes with a couple of scrub pads that are meant for deep cleaning—you can even use them to clean out the grout. Just swap the pad out when you need to tackle those stubborn spots.

While the scrub pads aren’t washable, the microfiber pads can be reused. When you’re done mopping, just remove it from the head and put it into the washing machine. According to the product description, it can be washed up to 100 times—just try not to put it into the dryer as that can cause it to shrink. Also, never use fabric softener as that can affect its absorbency!

Now, you’ve probably noticed—bt the kit doesn’t come with any type of cleaner. At the end of the day, you will have to provide your own. Depending on how dirty your floor is, however, you might be able to get away with just using plain old water.

Build Quality

This should be a given but you always want to make sure that a product is high-quality before making a purchase. After all, no one wants to invest money in something that’s not going to last. In terms of mops, it’s important to consider its build quality. Ideally, you’d want a mop that has a metal handle (as opposed to plastic) as those tend to be more robust. How well is the Turbo Microfiber Mop constructed? Let’s have a look.

The Turbo Microfiber Mop features a handle that is made out of high-grade aluminium. Not only is it strong, but it is incredibly lightweight, which makes it easy to use and maneuver. As you can expect, though, there is plastic in a few areas. For instance, the part that attaches to the mop head is made out of plastic. Unlike many of its competitors, however, it features strong non-recycled plastic, which is resistant to breaking. Half-way down the handle, there is also a plastic grip that you can use for leverage; at the top, there is a hook for hanging.  For your convenience, the pole is also adjustable (35” to 60”). To extend it, just twist the handle; there are a few locking pins that will secure it in place.

Perhaps the greatest highlight of all, however, is the microfiber pad. Designed for heavy-duty cleaning, it is not only thick, but it is capable of gripping almost anything with its 10,000 fiber loops. Plush and cushy, they easily remove dirt and debris from all nooks and crannies. On top of that, it is highly absorbent; just add a little bit of cleaner and you’re good to go. As mentioned earlier, the microfiber pads are also reusable. Depending on the size of the area that you’re cleaning, you might have to switch them out halfway through when you’re mopping; once you’re finished, you can wash them with cold water in the washing machine.

While the scrub pads work, they’re not entirely up to par with the microfiber pads. For one thing, they tend to shred after a while; some people have also reported that it leaves “green stuff” on the floor. If you don’t mind that, though, they can be great for those stubborn spots. Seeing as how they are scratchy, however, you probably wouldn’t want to use them on say, hardwood or laminate surfaces.

Some Possible Issues with the Turbo Microfiber Mop

The Turbo Microfiber Mop is great for a variety of cleaning jobs. However, there are a few potential issues with its design that you might want to know about.

One thing that several people have mentioned is that the holes don’t always align on the handle. As a result, it can be difficult (or sometimes impossible) to properly attach the mop head. Unfortunately, this means that you might have to drill your own hole; understandably, though, this is not an option for everyone. From the looks of things, this might be a quality control issue. Luckily, it only seems to affect a small number of units. To give you a better idea, less than ten people have reported having this problem on Amazon. Out of those, several ended up receiving a free replacement mop from the company.

As briefly mentioned earlier, the scrubby pads also have a tendency of leaving green stuff over the floor. To be more specific, the outer layer of the pad tends to come off when you’re scrubbing. Obviously, this can be quite troublesome as it would require you to do an extra step of cleaning afterwards. When the scrub pads get dirty, you also can’t toss them into the wash like the microfiber pads. Just something that you might want to keep in mind.

Another issue is that the mop has a tendency of flipping. Ultimately, its aluminium handle is a double-edged sword. Sure, it might be lightweight but it also tends to flip when you’re cleaning—especially when you’re pulling it back. Fortunately, you can avoid this to some degree by putting less force into the mopping action.

Depending on the size of your house, you might also find that the mop head is a bit too big. While they used to sell an 11” model, the one that is currently available is 17”. As you can expect, the cleaning pad is a little bigger at 17.5” x 4.5”. Due to its size, it can be difficult to get into those small nooks and crannies.

Does it Clean Well?

The microfiber pads are fantastic at removing dirt and debris; the looped fibers are also great for getting rid of pet hair. To get started, you’ll want to first dampen the pad under the faucet. After wringing it out gently, you can use it on the floor. If you want, you can also add cleaner onto the ground (personally, I prefer using a spray bottle). Once you’ve mopped the area, it also dries very quickly; it does not leave any noticeable streak marks whatsoever. When you’re all finished, just remove the pad from the bottom of the mop head and toss it into the wash. As a dry mop, it can also be great for dust.

The scrubby pads, however, leave a bit to be desired. Don’t get me wrong—they are great for cleaning tiles, grout, and other surfaces, but they just don’t seem as durable as the microfiber pads. It’s also important to note that they are abrasive (they are meant for stubborn stains after all), so you wouldn’t want to use it on laminate or hardwood. According to some of the Amazon reviews, though, they are wonderful for scrubbing the garage.

To summarize, the Turbo Microfiber Mop is perfect for cleaning a variety of floor types including tile, hardwood, laminate, and cement; it can also be used for windows, wall, ceilings, and more. Not only does it do a good job of getting rid of dirt, dust, and pet hair, but it is suited for tougher messes as well—just put on the scrub pad! If you want, you can even use it dry as a dust mop. Easy to maneuver around and under furniture, it is a solid option for those living in houses, apartments, and dorms. In addition to that, it can be great for offices, schools, and other settings.

Cost and Pricing Information

The Turbo Microfiber Mop is a little costlier than some of the other models out there. Priced at $39.99, it is one of the more expensive options in terms of microfiber mops. To give you a better idea, the Linkyo Microfiber Floor Mop sells for $34.99 whereas the O-Cedar dual Action Microfiber Mop goes for around $22. Considering how effective the looped design is in picking up particles, however, I’d say that it’s worth the extra money. Compared to other mops, it is also a bit sturdier. For one thing, there are little to no complaints about the mop coming apart or breaking online. It is worth noting, though, that it does go on sale from time to time. As a matter of fact, it is discounted to $34.99 on their official website at the time of this writing.

After a while of using the mop, you’ll need to replace the microfiber pads. As it is, refills are not particularly cheap; for a pack of two, it will cost you $12.99. Similar to the mop, they also go on sale every once in a while. Since they are reusable, they should last you many months—you won’t have to buy them again for a while.

The scrub pads, on the other hand, are a little cheaper—you can get a two-pack for $9.99. On Amazon, they even have a $2 off coupon that you can apply to your order. If you want to stock up, you can also get a five-pack for $19.99 from Turbo’s website, which works out to be around $4 per pad. Unless you have a lot of scrubbing to do, though, you probably won’t be needing too many of them.

The Turbo Microfiber Mop Overall – Is It Worth It?

Our Take
The Turbo Microfiber Mop is not only great for cleaning the floor, but can be used for windows, ceilings, walls, and more. Made out of high grade aluminium, it is incredibly lightweight and easy to maneuver under furniture. Featuring a unique looped design, the microfiber pads are highly effective at removing dirt, debris, and animal hair. When everything is done, just throw it into the washing machine. Like most mops, however, there are a few potential pitfalls with its design. For instance, several people have noted that the holes don’t always line up on the handle; the scrub pads also have a tendency of leaving green debris on the floor. Due to how light it is, the head might also flip over when you’re cleaning. Overall, though, I would say that it is a solid option for those who are looking for a microfiber mop.
