How often do you clean the floor? Remember, just because they look spotless doesn’t mean that they are. Don’t believe me? Run your finger across the surface—chances are, there will be layer of dirt and dust. Considering that, it’s important to mop regularly (if you want your house to be clean, anyway). How frequently? It depends on the amount of foot traffic that you gets. As a general rule, though, you should mop at least once a week—that will help prevent things from building up. Even if you don’t have time to mop, you should make an effort to sweep the floor.
Why? Dirt and other particles can damage your floor. Not to mention that it can affect your wellbeing. Take dust, for instance—it can easily cause sneezing, coughing or other symptoms. The last thing that you want to do is to compromise your health just because you’re too lazy to mop!
Speaking of mops, they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. At the end of the day, you want to pick one that’s best suited for your cleaning needs. For instance, a yarn mop is probably not the best option if you’re looking for something to clean the walls with. Ask yourself—what kind of features do you want? Do you want something that comes with a jet spray? Or would you prefer something small and compact? Because your answers will determine the type of mop that’s suitable for you.
In this particular post, we’ll be focusing our attention on microfiber mops. Don’t be fooled by their simple design—they are fabulous cleaning tools. Not only are they super absorbent, but they’re anti-microbial as well. Thinking of getting one? Consider the Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop—because that’s what we’re here to talk about today!
The Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop
Temple’s Pride is a company that specializes in cleaning products. Besides mops, they also sell gloves, toilet brushes, dusters, lint rollers, and more. While they have their own website, all of their items are sold through Amazon. As far as we know, their products are not available at any other retailers or stores. There is one good thing about their site, though—there’s a VIP club/mailing list that you can join for exclusive sales and discounts. Every now and then, they also host giveaways and contests. The Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop is designed for hard floors. More specifically, it can be used on laminate, hardwood, tile, or vinyl. Featuring an 18” base, it covers a considerable amount of area with each swipe. What’s more, is that it uses reusable pads. In other words, you won’t have to worry about contributing to the landfill—simply remove the pad and toss in the washer! Did I also mention that it comes with a telescoping handle? That’s right, the pole is extendable—you can customize the length to whatever you want from 29″ to 69″. Mopping hard-to-reach areas has never been easier!
The Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop comes with all the bits and parts that you need. In other words, you can start using it right away! Here’s a breakdown of what’s included in the box:
- 3 Reusable Microfiber Pads
- 1 Mop Head
- 1 Telescoping Handle
- 1 Comprehensive Instruction Manual
Unlike other mops that only come with one pad, the Temple’s Pride comes with three. What’s more, is that they’re all different. To be more specific, you’ll get one dry mop pad, one wet mop pad, and one wet mop pad with frill age (we’ll be going over the differences later). Attachment is easy; simply stick it to the hook and loop strips on the bottom side. Here’s a tip—place the mop pad on the floor, white side up. From there, all you have to do is “drop” the mop head on it. If anything, that’s the easiest way to get it on. When you’re finished cleaning, just peel it off.
The other thing that you’ll get is a telescoping handle. As mentioned earlier, it can be adjusted from 29” to 69”. To change the length, simply turn it with your hand. Once it’s at the right height, lock it in place. With that, you won’t have to bend over to clean under baseboards or reach up for the ceiling.
Assembly is easy and quick—it’ll take you 30 seconds max. Basically, all you have to do is attach the bottom of the handle to the mop head. Once you’ve done that, extend the handle by twisting and pulling. Proceed to lock it in place and you’re ready to go!
Note: As indicated above, the mop comes with an instruction manual so you’ll know exactly what to do.
Build Quality of the Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop
Quality is important when it comes to mops. How can you tell if it’s well-built? Check its construction—what kind of material is it made from? Ideally, you want to opt for something that’s made from metal. While plastic works for cleaning purposes, it’s definitely not the most robust. If possible, examine the product in person—that way, you’ll be able to find out for yourself just how well built it is (as opposed to just looking at images online).
As for the Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop, the handle is made from metal. Durable and rigid, you won’t have to worry about it bending when you’re mopping. Like most mops, however, the joints are made from the plastic—the same goes for the top. Likewise, the head is also reinforced with plastic. If anything, that’s pretty common when it comes to mops.
Next, let’s take a look at the mop pads. First off, the dry cloths. As you can probably guess, they’re meant for “sweeping” purposes—that is, they should not be used wet. Despite that, though, they are fairly thick. In contrast, the other two pads are for wet mopping; one is standard while the other one comes with a frill edge. Soft and plush, they work well with various cleaners. The best part, though? They all hold up well in the washing machine. Just make sure not to put them in the dryer otherwise they’ll shrink (unfortunately there isn’t much that you can do once they’ve shrunk)!
Some Possible Issues with the Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop
The Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop has its highlights but it also has its drawbacks. Here are some of the most common issues according to those who’ve bought it on Amazon:
The Mop Head is Prone to Flipping Over
The mop comes with a 360-degree swivel head. While it makes certain cleaning jobs easier, it also makes things more frustrating. Why? It’s prone to flipping over. To be more specific, the head tends to flip when you’re pushing it across the floor. In order to continue mopping, you’d have to stop and set it back with your hand. According to some users, the issue seems to be more common with the wet mop pads. A quick fix would be to tape the top part of the head.
Handle Doesn’t Always Lock in Place
The way it’s designed, the metal handle doesn’t always lock in place when you turn the plastic joints. As a result, it can be difficult to mop properly. Judging by some of the online reviews, it seems to be a fairly common issue. As it is, there’s not much that you can do about it—the only option is to re-lock it every time it comes loose.
Not the Best For Wet Mopping
The mop wet pads are mediocre at best. For some reason or another, they’re not that great at picking up dirt and debris—even when they’re wetted. If anything, it just seems to push things around on the floor. To make matters worse, the whole mop head tends to flip up when you’re wet mopping due to increased friction, as mentioned earlier.
Velcro Strips Are Not Properly Attached to the Mop Head
The velcro at the bottom works well in that they grip tightly onto the microfiber pad. The issue, however, is with the strips themselves. In some cases, they’re not glued properly to the mop head, which can cause them to fall off altogether. To prevent that, you have to be extra careful when you’re taking off the pads. A little too much force and the velcro strips can easily fall off. The only way to fix that would be to glue it back on.
Handle Quality Is Hit And Miss
Some of the handles are built better than others. In other words, you never know how durable yours will be until you try it out. As it is, many people have had theirs break on them while mopping. For instance, there’s a chance that the handle can snap off. Obviously, this is a quality control issue. There is good news, though—the company will send you a replacement if you let them know what has happened. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s an annoyance, however.
Does It Clean Well?
The mop performs the best when you’re using the dry microfiber pads—especially if you vacuum beforehand. Great for all types of surfaces, they pick up a considerable amount of dirt and dust with each swipe. Pet owners will be happy to know that they work for animal hair as well! Given their size (they’re a little bigger than Swiffer pads), you won’t have to rinse them out nearly as often either. When you’re finished, all you have to do is scrape the debris into the trash can.
The wet microfiber pads, however, are a little disappointing, as stated earlier. Despite their thickness, they simply do not work well—even if they’re dampened with cleaner. Instead of gripping onto the particles, they seem to push them around instead. The way the handle is, it’s also difficult to apply force when you’re wet mopping. In other words, don’t depend on it for stains and messes. Given all that, it might not be the best product if you’re looking to do some deep cleaning. With that said, it doesn’t seem to leave streak marks so there’s that.
To summarize, the Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop is a decent option if your main focus is dry mopping. While it can be used wet, its performance is not the best. Maneuvrability-wise, however, the product is great. Not only is it lightweight, but the swivel head means that you can easily reach around things—just remember to be gentle with your movements as the mop head can flip over.
Cost and Pricing Information
The Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop is priced at $34.94 on Amazon, which isn’t too expensive. At the same time, however, it isn’t that cheap either. If anything, it’s a little on the mid-high end as most microfiber mops are around the $20 to $40 range. Why is it priced higher? It might be due to the fact that it comes with three different microfiber pads. At least it comes with free two-day shipping if you’re a Prime member, however.
The mop might come with three pads, but they’re all different. In other words, you’ll have to buy a pack of refills if there’s a certain kind that you want another of. How much are they? $15.99 for a pack of three, which if we do the math, translates to about $5.30 each before tax.
Keep in mind, however, that their refills come as a variety pack—that is, you won’t be able to choose which type of pad you want. For this reason, you might want to consider buying an off-brand—there are a lot of options if you look around on Amazon. For instance, you can easily get a 5-pack for $12 (approx $2.40 for a pad), which is much cheaper than what their official ones sell for. Depending on which one you get, they might even be better than the ones that come with the mop! As long as the size fits, you can attach it to the bottom of the mop head. Of course, there’s also the option of making your own pads with a cloth, rag or something similar. In fact, many people on Amazon have gone that route!
Aside from the microfiber pads, there’s not much else that you need to buy in terms of refills. The only thing that I can think of would be a cleaner but that’s not mandatory—you can just as easily use water or vinegar. Even if you decide to buy a commercial product, you’re not restricted to a certain one like the Swiffer (i.e. you’re not forced to buy something in order to use the mop).

Handle is extendable

The Temple’s Pride Microfiber Mop works well for a variety of hard floors from vinyl to tile. Easy to assemble, you can use it within minutes after taking it out of the box. Featuring an extendable handle, you can even customize the height based on your cleaning needs. What’s more, is that it comes with three different kinds of pads!
