OKP Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

Robot vacuums are a great way to keep your floors clean. For one thing, they’re autonomous. In other words, you won’t need to do anything. You can set back and relax while it cleans the house for you!

What’s more, is that they’re excellent at reaching tricky spots like under the bed or sofa. Not only that, but many come with handy features such as app control and time scheduling. That way, it’ll clean even when you’re not home.

The only thing is that they can be expensive. Depending on what you choose, it can easily set you back a few hundred dollars. Some are even more expensive (>$1000). At the end of the day, it all depends on the model. The good news is that there are budget-friendly models out there so you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg. Take the OKP Robot Vacuum, for example, it’s often on sale for less than $200.

What are some of its features? Does it come with an app? How well does it work for pet hair? Find out all this and more by reading our review!

The OKP Robot Vacuum Cleaner

OKP Life is a small company that you can find on Amazon. As far as we can tell, they only sell robot vacuums. Aside from the K2, which we’ll be talking about this post, they also offer a K7, which cleans in a zigzag path. Both can be found in their online shop (they don’t have an official website).

Product Description

The OKP K2 is a mini robot vacuum that comes with four cleaning modes—auto clean, spot clean, edge clean, and manual clean. There are also three suction levels to choose from: low, medium, and high. To switch, just use the mobile app. You can also use it to create cleaning schedules, control the direction, and more. And as far as runtime goes, it can be used for up to 100 minutes per charge. When it runs out of power, it will automatically return to the dock station to recharge. Not only is it suitable for hard floors, but you can also use it on low-pile carpets.

What’s In the Box?

  • 1 OKP K2 Robot Vacuum
  • 4 Side Brushes
  • 1 Extra HEPA Filter
  • 1 Docking Station
  • 1 Remote Control

The robot vacuum itself has a very simple design. There’s a power button at the top and the dustbin is located at the back (it’s also where the HEPA filter is). Diameter-wise, it measures approximately 11 inches.

Like most robot cleaners, it does make use of side brushes, which you’ll have to install on the bottom of the device. It comes with four so you’ll have two extras for when the originals wear out. Speaking of extras, the kit also includes an extra HEPA filter for the dust bin.

There’s also a docking station, which you’ll be using to charge the K2 robot. Place it on a flat surface against the wall and make sure that there aren’t any obstacles in front of or around it as that can hinder its performance.

There’s also a remote control that you can use to control the unit. In other words, you don’t have to use the mobile app. While there’s no digital display, it has all the buttons that you’ll need including ones for the different cleaning modes. Batteries are also included so you can use the remote immediately out of the box.

Smart Features

How ‘intelligent’ is the OKP K2 Robot Vacuum? Let’s find out. Here’s an overview of some of its features.

Self Charge & Resume

The OKP K2 robot vacuum can run for up to 100 minutes per charge. When the battery runs low, it will automatically return to the charging dock. And once the battery is sufficiently charged, it will resume its previous job.

Anti-drop Technology

The K2 robot is fully equipped with anti-drop sensors so you won’t have to worry about it falling off edges or down the stairs.

Mobile App Control

The robot vacuum can be controlled with the OKP Life App, which is available for both iOS and Android devices. For example, you can use it to switch cleaning modes or to create a cleaning schedule.

Voice Controls

The OKP Robot Vacuum is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant. In other words, you can control it hands-free, with your voice.

Pros of the OKP Robot Vacuum

Price Point: Perhaps the greatest thing about OKP K2 is its price point. It’s affordable, much more so than say, the Roomba, especially when it’s on sale.

Warranty:  The OKP K2 Robotic Vacuum comes with a 36-month warranty. If anything happens, just contact the customer support team via email and they’ll be happy to help you with your issue.

Noise Level: The robot isn’t very loud at all. You’ll still be able to hear it, however, it won’t get in the way of a conversation or TV show.

A Few Drawbacks

Lack of Suction Power

The OKP K2 robot isn’t very strong when it comes to suction power. It’ll pick up dust and dirt but anything bigger (e.g. food crumbs, cat litter, pet hair) will be left on the floor, even on the highest setting. This is especially true when it comes to the carpet (more on this later).

Has Trouble Returning Home

The robot vacuum isn’t very good at returning home. More often than not, it’ll get lost or stuck on the way back to the base. Eventually, the battery will die, which means that you’ll have to carry it back yourself.

Lack of Instructions

There are no instructions for the app. Once you download it, you have to figure it out yourself. There’s no explanation on how to set things up or to navigate the different menus.

Doesn’t Work Well On Carpet

The robotic vacuum doesn’t work very well on carpet and area rugs. Even if it manages to get on, it won’t pick up much, especially things like pet hair. For this reason, we wouldn’t recommend it for those with carpeted floors.

No Mapping Feature

The K2 vacuum doesn’t come with a mapping feature. It won’t know where it has cleaned and where it still needs to clean. Instead, it’ll clean in a random pattern. Because of this, you can’t expect it to clean every inch of the house. If anything, it’ll go over some areas twice and miss others completely.

Connectivity Issues

Several people have had issues connecting the robot to the app. It can also be tricky connecting it to Alexa or Google Assistant. For one thing, it only works on 2.4GHz WiFi so if you’re using something else, you won’t be able to sync the device.

Deceptive Reviews

The product comes with a free gift. To receive it, however, you must write a (presumably positive) review on Amazon. This might explain why there are so many positive ratings on the site so don’t trust all the reviews you see.

How Well Does It Clean?

The K2 robotic vacuum isn’t as powerful as some of the other vacuums out there, however, it’ll still get rid of dust and other fine debris. Just don’t expect it to pick up large particles like cat litter or food crumbs. It doesn’t do that well with pet hair either, especially on carpets and area rugs. If anything, it’s only good for daily maintenance, to avoid dust from building up. In other words, you’ll still need to vacuum once a week to keep the floors clean.

Who Would We Recommend It To?

  • Those who have hardwood, laminate, vinyl, or another type of hard floor
  • Those without pets
  • Those who are looking for something affordable

How to Use the OKP K2 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

You’ll have to charge the robotic vacuum prior to its first use. To do that, you’ll have to set up the charging base. Place it on a level surface against the wall and plug in the power adapter cable to the base; the other end goes into an outlet. Manually place the K2 robot on the dock, making sure that the charging contacts on the unit are touching the ones on the charging station.

In the meantime, you can set up the OKP Life App. Once the robot’s fully charged, you can sync it with the device. From there, you can start a cleaning session by pressing the clean button on the unit, remote, or mobile app.

Cost and Pricing Information

The OKP K2 Robotic Vacuum is currently priced at $128.88 on Amazon. There’s also a $15 off coupon that you can apply to the order, which will bring the total to around $113 plus tax. Shipping is also free with the site so there won’t be any additional costs.

Unlike some of the bigger brands, however, replacement parts (e.g. side brushes, filters, etc) aren’t readily available on Amazon. You have to contact their customer team for replacements and it’s unknown how much they charge for the items.

Our Take
The OKP K2 Robot Vacuum is an affordable machine that comes with four cleaning modes—auto clean, edge clean, spot clean, and manual clean. It also comes with a mobile app so you can control it remotely with your phone. Not only that, but it’ll automatically return to the charging station when the battery runs low and will resume its previous job once it’s recharged. The only thing is that its suction isn’t very strong. It also doesn’t work that well on carpeted floors.
