Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop Review

It’s important to keep the house clean for many reasons. Not only does it benefit our health, but it can also improve our quality of life. For the most of us, however, cleaning can be a daunting task, especially if you’re busy with other commitments. Fortunately, though, the days of scrubbing on our hands and knees are over. Nowadays, there are many tools that can help including steam mops, vacuum cleaners, and carpet cleaners. Widely accessible, they help extremely when it comes to doing household chores. Above all else, mops are incredibly versatile. For one thing, you can use them for many different purposes from cleaning pet hair to mopping up spilt coffee.

Microfiber mops are particularly great for picking up dirt and debris. If anything, their popularity has only increased over the past few years. On this page, we will be taking a look at a specific model—the Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop. What are some of its main features? Does it clean up pet hair? What kind of materials is it made out of—plastic? Metal? These are all things that we will be exploring in our review. Hopefully, you’ll be able to get a better idea of what the product is like by the end of the post.

The Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop

Mr. Siga is a leading manufacturer in the home cleaning industry. Founded in 1997, the Hong Kong company has been striving to provide customers with high-quality and easy-to-use cleaning solutions for over two decades. As of 2018, they have sold more than 100 million of their products in over 50 countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Australia. In addition to mops, which we will be talking about today, they also produce brushes, sponges, dusters, squeegees, shirt hangers, and more. For more information, you can visit their website here.

The Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop is great if you want something compact that can clean the floors well. Lightweight and convenient, it comes with a double-sided microfiber cloth that easily clasps onto the head—you can mop with the blue side and wax with the beige side! With its innovative clip-on design, you won’t have to deal with velcro strips that often lose their grip after a while. Designed with maneuverability in mind, it features a 360 degree swivel handle that allows you to reach even the toughest of spots. Not only can it be used for the ground, but the mop is great for windows, walls—even cars! Best of all, you won’t have to worry about it scratching the surfaces.

What’s Included

The Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop comes with everything that you need to start cleaning. This include:

  • 3 Microfiber Cloth Refills
  • 1 Dirt Removal Scrubber
  • 1 Telescopic Pole

As with most microfiber mops, the unit is pretty easy to assemble. Really, all you need to do is fit the pieces together; it shouldn’t take you more than a couple of minutes tops.

Once you’re done that, you’re ready to attach one of the microfiber cloths onto the head. To do so, simply lift the clips on the head up, place the pad down (ensuring that it’s fitted properly), and put the clips back down. Given that it’s attached properly, it should not come off during cleaning. As you can probably tell from the picture, the microfiber cloth is reusable. After your mopping session, just throw it into the wash; it’ll come out looking as good as new. When it starts to wear out, you can switch it with one of the extras that you are provided with. Seeing as how they give you three of them, you should be set for quite a while.

Aside from the cleaning cloths, the mop also comes with a dirt removal scrubber that clips onto the handle for convenience. Despite its name, however, it’s not meant to be used on the floors like what we had initially thought; instead, it is designed to help you get rid of the dirt from the microfiber cloth (rinsing it will be easier once you’ve scrubbed the grime off). Once you’re good with that, just clip it back onto the handle.

Of course, the mop also includes the pole itself. With its double-locking design, it can easily hold any position; in other words, you can customize the height to match your cleaning needs.

Now you might be wondering—”what about the cleaner?” As it is, the set does not come with one. Seeing as how the mop is compatible with almost any type of cleaning fluid, however, you can just use whatever you have that’s lying around the house.

Build Quality

Build quality is always something that you want to bear in mind when shopping for a mop. At the end of the day, no one wants to invest in a tool that’s going to come apart with just a few uses. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you look into its construction prior to making a purchase. What kind of metal alloy is used for the pole? Overall, does it feel sturdy? How is the quality control? These are some of the questions that you’ll want to consider.

The Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop features a stainless steel handle and an aluminium cast mop plate, the latter of which is reinforced with plastic on the sides. To protect the floor, the bottom consists of a soft material; that way, you won’t have to worry about it leaving any scratches. As far as the clips go, they are made out of plastic. Despite that, however, their grip is noticeably strong; you shouldn’t have any issues attaching the microfiber cloth given that it’s placed and folded in the right position. If you want to adjust the length of the handle, just twist the blue fastener. Don’t forget that the dirt scrubber is also clasped onto the top of the pole.

Wondering about the microfiber cloths? You’ll be happy to know that they’re essentially thick, absorbent towels. Soft to the touch, the material is capable of absorbing just the right amount of liquid; this allows you to mop without having excess water on the floor. Not only that, but each of them is also quite large—each of the pads measures approximately 16.5” by 9.0”. With that, you’ll be able to cover a large area with every swipe. To make things even better, they are double sided; you can use the blue side for wet mopping (with a cleaner) and the white side for dusting. As a reminder, they are machine washable; you probably want to skip the fabric softener and dryer, though, if you want them to last longer.

Lastly, the stainless steel handle is relatively sturdy. If anything, you’re more likely to run into issues with the plastic parts that cover it. As always, though, you’ll want to avoid applying too much force when you’re mopping; even metal can bend, after all.

Some Possible Issues with the Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop

The mop generally has positive reviews. However, there are a few things that are worth mentioning.

First off, there is a possibility that the handle will break over time. Despite being made out of stainless steel, it can snap, especially with constant use. As it is, however, this problem is shared by many similar mops. Unfortunately, when this happens, the only solution is to buy a new mop; Mr. Siga currently does not offer any replacement parts for their unit. Having said all that, the chances of it snapping are still relatively low. In fact, most people will likely not experience this issue.

In some cases, the clips that hold down the microfiber pad on the head may also be loose. As you can imagine, this makes cleaning very difficult. After all, how can you clean when the cloth keep moving around? From the looks of it though, this only seems to occur with some of the Mr. Siga mops. Considering that, it’s probably due to faulty clips in some units, which, unfortunately, cannot be fixed (with ease, anyway). With that said, it’s not uncommon for the pads to slip off if they are not fitted properly over the head.

Another possible issue is that the extendable handle may not stay in place. As a result, it can be awkward to clean with the mop, especially if you’re trying to scrub a stubborn spot. If you experience this problem, you might want to glue it so that it doesn’t retract. Of course, this would also mean that you’d no longer be able to extend the handle—just something to keep in mind. Fortunately, though, the pole tends to lock properly in most cases. To be on the safe side, though, you’ll want to avoid pulling or twisting it with too much force.

If you plan on buying the mop, it’s worth noting that Mr. Siga does offer a 3-month product warranty. If there are any issues with the unit, you may be eligible for a free replacement; simply contact their customer service team via e-mail.

Does it Clean Well?

When used wet, the Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop is great for spills, food crumbs, dirt, and other debris. If you own a dog or a cat, you’ll be happy to know that it also picks up a significant amount of pet hair. With its low profile swivelling head, you’ll also be able to easily clean under and around furniture. For the best results, however, you’ll probably want to sweep or vacuum beforehand to get rid of the dust bunnies.

When used dry, it serves as an excellent dust mop. Personally, I would recommend spaying a little bit of dust attractant prior to cleaning as that will help to pick everything up. With how large the pads are, you should also be able to get quite a bit of dusting done without having to change the cloth. Aside from the floors, it’s great for getting those dust bunnies off the ceiling, windows, and walls. Heck, you can even use it inside your car!

In terms of the microfiber cloth, it does a wonderful job of picking up dust and small particles. Not only is it thick, but it’s super absorbent, which helps immensely when you’re trying to get the grime off of your floor. Assuming that you’re using the right kind of cleaning solution, it also won’t leave any streak marks on the surface. As a matter of fact, it’ll probably look polished. If you wanted to though, you could use your own pads for the mop—you just have to make sure that the size is right and that they’re properly clipped onto the head.

To summarize, the Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop can be used both wet and dry. In addition to hard floor such as tile, marble, laminate and stone, it can also be used to clean walls, windows, ceilings, and more—it’s highly versatile. If you wanted to, it could even be used outdoors. Seeing as how it’s so compact, it would be a great choice for those who are living in apartments or small houses.

Cost and Pricing Information

The Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop is very reasonably priced. At the time of this writing, it sells for $24.95 on Amazon, which is close to what the other brands are selling for. For instance, O-Cedar has a similar mop for $23 whereas Hapinnex has one for around $26. If you want to buy it at a local store, however, you might be out of luck. As far as we know, Mr. Siga’s products are only available for purchase on Amazon. Really, though it’s probably a good thing; after all, who can say no to their quick two-day shipping? If you change your mind, they also do hassle-free returns.

Going back to what we said earlier, the mop comes with three microfiber cloth refills. Ultimately, they should be enough to last you several months (remember, they’re machine washable). When they start to fall apart, though, after dozens of uses, you’ll want to think about getting replacements. As with the mop itself, you can get the refills on Amazon. As it is, they are not too expensive; a pack of three sells for $12.99, which works out to be around $4.30 each. If you want to be more economical, you can even use your own cleaning pads, as mentioned above.

Assuming that you already have some type of cleaning solution at home, there really isn’t much that you’ll need to get in the long run aside from the pads. Considering that, I’d say that it is worth the money. Even if the mop manages to break over time, you won’t be losing a whole lot as the entire thing sells for under $30.

The Mr. Siga Microfiber Mop Overall – Is It Worth It?

Our Take
The Mr. Siga Mcirofiber Mop is affordable and easy to use. With its double-sided microfiber cloth, it can be used both wet and dry; all you have to do is flip the pad over when you’re cleaning. Highly maneuverable with its 360 degree swivel handle, it can be used to clean the floor, windows, ceilings, and more. When you’re done, throw the cloth into the wash and you’ll be set for next time. There are a few things to note, though. For one thing, the handle can break over tile; there is also a possibility that the extendable handle will not lock in place. Fortunately, though, these problems do not occur frequently. If anything, most people are satisfied with their ability to clean multiple surfaces. At under $30, it is a great choice for those who are looking for something inexpensive that gets the job done.
