Microfiber Wholesale 18″ Professional Mop Review

When it comes to microfiber mops we all (generally) want the same thing, a mop that cleans well for a great price.  Today we are going to take a look at one of the companies that stake their claim on these two things, Microfiber Wholesale. So without further ado see how their 18″ Professional Mop stacks up.

The 18″ Professional Mop by Microfiber Wholesale

Microfiber Wholesale is a brand that first got its start selling on Amazon.com. Their business model consists of offering a simple, quality product at a solid price point.  They don’t spend a lot of money on advertising (you likely won’t be seeing a commercial during the Superbowl halftime show) and don’t add a lot of frills to their product line. Due to this, they’ve carved out a niche for both price conscious residential customers and business buyers as well.  Their most popular product is their standard 18″ Microfiber Mop System.

What’s Included

The 18″ Professional Mop system comes with a few things in the box.

  • The Aluminum Mop Head
  • The Stainless Steel Mop Handle (6 Foot Adjustable Mop)
  • 2 – Microfiber Wet Mop Pads
  • 1 – Microfiber Dust Mop Pad
  • 2 – Traditional Microfiber Cloths (not for the mop)

You can check out the Microfiber Wet Pads and the type of traditional microfiber cloths included with the mop system below:

Additionally, the dust mop pad included in shown below (with bonus dust included):

Overall there isn’t anything too crazy to write home about regarding what’s included with the mop system.  Pretty standard with a couple of cleaning pads and an additional “dusting” pad.  The pads themselves are what I would consider average at best in regards to quality, not horrible but not up to par in my book.  The additional microfiber cloths are a nice little addition but if you’re like me the last thing you need around is more microfiber cloths.

Build Quality

When it comes to a mop there are really 2 main things you want to look out for regarding the build quality. These include the materials used in the construction and the quality of the manufacturing itself.  If one of these is missing the product itself is going to have issues. You can use amazing materials and still make a poor quality mop if the work itself is poor.  The same goes for materials, you can have great manufacturing practices but if cheap materials are used the product will perform poor and likely run into issues in the long run.

The professional mop pole is made of stainless steel. Generally, I prefer mops made of aluminum as they are lightweight and still very durable.  Stainless steel, on the other hand, is a fair bit heavier but is about as durable as you can get.  This can cause issues with its effectiveness as it’s a fair bit hard to maneuver and can be somewhat tiring, that said for most jobs it’s not going to be an issue.  The plastic used is also good quality so no worries on those pieces as well.

The mop head is made of high-quality aluminum which is our recommended material for the reasons stated (also if you haven’t checked out our buyers guide you can here.) The velcro on the mop pad is also mediocre, not horrible but not as “sticky” as some other mops on the market. The mop head is the standard 18″ length the width which is ideal as you can use a variety of pads from different manufacturers which brings us to our next point.

The pads included with the mop aren’t the best quality, they are standard microfiber pads.  They tend to do good with fine particles like dust and hair but most people run into a variety of messes. They don’t work great at picking up things like dirt or spills.   They aren’t especially thick so they don’t offer a ton of absorbent power for large spills.  That said the standard 18″ mop head is nice to have so you can use mop pads from other manufacturers.

Now for some of the negatives, we’ve noticed (and a handful of online reviews mention.) The biggest issue by far is the plastic pieces used throughout the mop, especially the swivel and the plastic part used for connecting the head to the rod. They aren’t the best quality and a fair amount of users have reported them snapping or breaking off during use which renders the mop unusable. See the image below for an example from an online user:

Additionally some users have noted that the velcro used for attaching the microfiber pads to the mop pad can start to peel off which is a pretty big issue.

Everything included I would say the build quality as a whole is slightly above average.

Does it Clean Well?

Most microfiber mops do a pretty good job when it comes to cleaning so the question is really how well does it do compared to other microfiber mop options. When it comes to pet hair and dust the included dusting pad does a pretty good job picking up and holding onto most of the fine particles.  On the other hand, neither the dusting or standard pads do a great job with spills, dirt,  or”stuck on” messes. The standard wet mopping pads that are included with the mop aren’t quite thick enough to handle spills well while and the mop doesn’t have a great amount of scrubbing power due to the mops weight and mediocre pad combo. A set of scouring pads would be a great addition to this setup.

The Swivel function, on the other hand, works really well and allows the mop to reach a lot of places traditional mops struggle with so that’s a definite plus.

As a whole, the mop does a pretty good job with most day to day cleaning however it can struggle a bit with those “bigger” messes and can be somewhat tiring to use for longer than a couple minutes due to the weight.

Cost & Pricing Information

Despite the name Microfiber Wholesale the mop systems come in at a mid-range price point rather than being one of the cheapest options.  The 18″ Professional Microfiber Mop generally runs around $40 on Amazon which is a little cheaper than the $45.96 price point they offer it directly on their website for.

Additional pads for the mop run around $13 for a 2 pack of the dust pads and $13 for a 2 pack of the standard wet/dry washing pads. I would consider this a bit on the high end for the quality of pads they provide. You can get better deals on mop pads from other companies that would work a lot better for the price.

Our Take
All in all Microfiber Wholesale offers a decent option with the 18" Professional Mop.  The build quality is better than average but could use better molded plastic parts to increase the durability and longevity of the product.  It does a good job with light cleaning and makes quick work of touch up work. Bigger messes can pose a challenge and can be frustrating to deal with but buying some high-quality mop pads from another manufacturer.  At the price point I think you can do better but compared to most mops it's a great option.
