LINKYO Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop Review

Do you like to keep your house clean? If so, you’re probably familiar with the notion of sweeping and vacuuming. After all, the dust won’t get rid of itself! Of course, there are other things to think about as well such as spills, dirt—even food crumbs. As much as we’d like to clean everything up though, it can be quite a chore. Who likes to spend their time scrubbing and wiping anyway? Fortunately, there are various tools that can help to make the job a little bit easier. Some of the ones that come to mind include carpet cleaners, vacuums, and steamers.

Mops are also great for cleaning. In fact, there are multiple types, each of which is suited for a different situation. For instance, there are steam mops, cut end mops, looped end mops, and sponge mops. On this page, we will be taking a look at one of the more popular varieties—the microfiber mop. To be more precise, we will be going over the Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop. How well does it trap particles? Is it worth the money? What are some of the advantages that it has over other products?  These are some of the things that we’ll be looking into in our review.

The Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop

Linkyo Corp. is an American owned company that was established in 2002. Based in Southern California, the online retailer is perhaps best known for their high-quality toners and inks, all of which are made from recycled materials. Aside from that, they also sell blank CDs/DVDs, compost bins, and various media accessories. Interestingly, however, one of their biggest sellers falls into a different category—cleaning supplies. That’s right, they also produce mops. In fact, it’s so popular that it’s often sold out on their website. Fortunately, you can find it on other sites such as Amazon.

The Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop is designed to clean a variety of surfaces from tile to laminate. Lightweight yet durable, the mop features an extendable handle that can be extended up to 5.9’. With it, you’ll no longer have to strain your back for hard to reach spots. Last but not least, it comes with a 360-degree swivel head, which provides excellent maneuverability.

To get started, all you have to do is wet the microfiber pad with hot water and attach it to the mop head. It’s easy—just lift the green clips up, put the pad underneath (fold if necessary), and fasten it. Once it’s secured, the pad will not fall or slip—something that often occurs with the ones that use velcro. From there, all that’s left to do is to clean.

What’s Included in the Box

  • 2 reversible microfiber mop cloths
  • 1 standard microfiber mop pad

The Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop comes with everything that you need to wipe down your floors. Unfortunately, however, the instructions that are provided can be hard to understand. Essentially, what you want to do is just to fit the parts of the handle (each of them is marked with a different letter) together—it’ll probably take you 30 seconds. Afterwards, mix a cleaning solution either in the sink or in a bucket (if you prefer, you can also just use plain water) and dunk one of the pads in; remember to ring it out thoroughly—you don’t want it to be too wet or it’ll start dripping everywhere. Once that’s done, you can clip it onto the mop head (tip- make sure that the cloth/pad properly touches both of the green clips otherwise it might fall off).

Unlike some of the mops out there that utilize single-use pads, the Linyko comes with three microfiber cloths (two are reversible), all of which are machine washable; that is, you’ll be able to use and wash them until they fall apart. Even if you were to clean your floors every day, they should last you a while. If you need extras though, you can find them on Amazon.

It’s probably also worth mentioning that the mop comes with a 2-year warranty. As with most guarantees though, you will need to have registered it through their website (an easy process that just takes a few minutes). That way, Linkyo will be able to help you if you run into any problems with the product (not that you will, but still).

Build Quality

There are several things that you want to look for when buying a mop. First off, you want to make sure that the body is strong, ideally made out of aluminium alloy (ones that are made out of cheaper materials tend to break much faster). Next, check to see if the pole is adjustable in length—trust me, your back will thank you for it. Finally, you’ll want to examine whether or not it has swivel functionality as this will allow you to clean those hard to reach spots. Now that you know what makes a good mop, let’s take a look at the one by Linkyo.

Don’t be fooled by its minimalistic design—the Linkyo Microfiber Floor Mop is designed to be long-lasting. While its handle is made out of stainless steel, the mop frame is constructed out of high-quality aluminium; this makes it both lightweight and durable. As for the top and the bottom, it is made out of high-grade ABS plastic. Personally, I find the head to be a bit heavy.

As far as the microfiber cloths go, they are sturdy and thick—thick enough so that they clamp securely in place. Given that, you should be able to do a lot of cleaning with just one of them. In fact, their official website states that one can be used and washed over 100 times. Don’t forget, they’re also reversible—this means that you can get twice as much use out of a single pad! For those who previously used a Swiffer though, you might be disappointed to know that the Linkyo is not compatible with their refills.

Now for the important part—the clips, the things that hold the cleaning cloths in place. You might be inclined to think that they’re flimsy since they’re made out of plastic, but that’s not the case. If anything, they work better than the “velcro” kind, which is used by many other mops. As an added plus, the clips are not spring loaded so you don’t have to worry about getting your fingers caught in them. Overall, attaching the cleaning pad is easy peasy!

Possible Issues with the Linkyo Microfiber Floor Mop

As great as the swivel head is for reaching around furniture, it can cause some issues if you’re not careful. For instance, it has a tendency of “flipping over” when you don’t apply enough pressure, which can be quite annoying when all you’re trying to do is clean the floor. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to prevent this from happening. For one thing, you want to make sure that the cleaning pad is not too wet, as that can add extra weight; also, you want to avoid overreaching as that can result in “flip overs” as well. As you get more used to using the mop, however, it should become less of a problem.

In addition to that, some people have experienced problems with the handle breaking off. More specifically, it tends to break where the pole meets the base of the mop—either over time or when the mop accidentally falls onto the ground. Unfortunately, this might be a design flaw as it seems to be a recurrent issue. If you happen to get one of these flawed units, you can request for a replacement through Linkyo’s 2-year warranty.

Another thing to note is that the plastic bottom can have a strong chemical smell. While this doesn’t affect the function of the product per se, it can be bothersome, especially if you are sensitive to scents. Thankfully, it usually goes away after a while. In the meantime though, you can choose to air it outside.

Depending on what you’re used to cleaning your floors with, you might also find that the mop is a bit on the heavy side (according to the specifications, it is 2.4 pounds). Ultimately, this makes it harder to maneuver as you need to apply more force with every push. With that said, the mop does manage to glide across the floor. If you’re accustomed to using something that’s lightweight, though, you might not be a fan of its weight.

Does it Clean Well?

Now for the one question that I’m sure you’ve all been wondering about—does the microfiber mop clean well? The answer—yes, it does. Not only is it easy to maneuver with its swivelling head (mopping the baseboards will be a piece of cake), but the traditional pads are also soft and thick; highly absorbent, they soak in a good amount of water each time, which helps with the whole process. You’ll be surprised to see just how much dirt it’ll pick up! Assuming that you’re using it properly, it also won’t leave any streaks on the floor.

If there’s a particularly tough spot, simply add a bit of pressure to the mop head—this usually does the trick (that, and add a little bit of cleaner solution). You’ll find that it tends to glide effortlessly across the surface; just be careful when “pulling” to avoid it from flipping over. The fact that it also has an extendable pole also helps lots. If anything, you won’t have to bend over to clean certain areas.

It’s also worth noting that each of the reusable microfiber cloths (they’re incredibly plush, by the way) are reversible. Depending on what you want to do, you’ll either want to use the pink side or the white side (one is designed for dust mopping, the other for wet mopping). Personally, I find the scrubbing side to be a bit more versatile as the other one is intended for dusting and buffing the floors.

In terms of what it’s able to pick up, the mop does a wonderful job at getting rid of pet hair, dust, dirt, sticky spots, spills—even muddy footprints. The best part? Everything about the mop is pet-friendly; there are no harsh chemicals involved whatsoever. For all of you dog and cat owners out there, the Linkyo makes a great addition to your arsenal of cleaning tools.

In addition to the family home, the compact mop is also great for offices and schools. For the best results though, you’ll want to use it wet, unless all you’re trying to do is dust the floors.

Cost and Pricing Information

The Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop is one of the more affordable options out there; this becomes especially noticeable when you compare it with some of the other microfiber models on the market. Currently, the mop set (includes three microfiber cloths) sells for $24.95 on their official website. However, it tends to be sold out. If you don’t want to wait for it to come back in stock, you can always head on over to Amazon, where it’s available for $34.99. With a little bit of luck, you might even find that it’s on sale! If you ask me, it’s well worth the investment.

The most cost efficient feature about the mop, however, is the fact it’s compatible with almost any kind of cloth—including wash rugs. As you can imagine, you’ll save a lot of money not having to buy particular refills. If you’re a fan of the ones that they make though, you can purchase them either through their website or on Amazon ($14.99 for a 3-pack).

Second of all, it doesn’t require a specific cleaner. In fact, most people just use it with hot water. When you consider everything that we’ve mentioned above, it becomes clear that the mop is great value for your money. Unlike some of its competitors, many of which require certain refills and whatnot, the Linkyo is versatile in that it can almost be used with anything. That right there makes it an excellent choice for those who are looking for something economical in the long run.

Having said all that, there is one thing that you might want to consider—there are no replacement parts for the mop. If a section of it breaks, your only choice would be to get a new one. Given that you’re still within the warranty period though, Linkyo might just send you a replacement. Still, even if you were to purchase another, it would only set you back $24.95, which really isn’t all that bad in the great scheme of things.

Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop Overall – Is It Worth It?

Our Take
The Linkyo Microfiber Hardwood Floor Mop might be minimalistic, but it gets the job done. Highly compact, it’s great choice for both houses and apartments. With that said, there may be some quality issues with the handle in some units; the swivel head might also be prone to flipping over if you’re not careful. For something that’s less than $30 though, it’s a pretty good tool—especially since it doesn’t require any specific cleaning pad or cleaner. You may want to consider this product if you’re looking for something that’s affordable in the long run.
