Kray Spray Mop Review
How important is it to mop the floors? The answer is—very. Remember, just because it looks clean doesn’t mean that it is. Chances are, there’s a fair amount of debris on the surface. After all, dirt isn’t exactly limited to the outside—it can easily come in from the bottom of your shoes. Not to mention that there’s also the issue of dust, hair, and food particles. Left alone, these things can easily pile up, which can have an impact on your health. For instance, it’s not uncommon for allergens to trigger coughing or sneezing.
But wait, you don’t want to just mop randomly. As it is, there’s a specific way to do it. First and foremost, you always want to sweep beforehand—that way, you won’t have to worry about there being any large particles on the floor. Once you’ve done that, you can begin mopping in small sections. Remember to change the water frequently as it can get dirty quickly!
Another thing that you want to consider is the type of mop that you’re using. As it turns out, not all of them are the same—some are designed for specific purposes. For instance, yarn mops are designed to clean the floor and the floor alone. In contrast, most microfiber mops can be used for a variety of surfaces including tabletops and walls.
On this page, we’ll be focusing our attention on the spray mop. Surely, you’ve seen them at the store before? They’re exactly what they sound like—they’re mops with a spray function. To be more specific, they’re capable of releasing a spray mist that allows you to clean your home more efficiently. Interested? Then you might want to read on—for we’ll be taking a closer look at one of them below. Yup, we’ll be reviewing the Kray Spray Mop.
The Kray Spray Mop
You’ve probably never of Kray before—and we don’t blame you. As far as we can tell, it’s a relatively new brand in the mopping world. Don’t let that fool you, though—their products are quite well made. Not only that, but they feature an eco-friendly design. Simply add a bit of cleaner to the mop pad and you’ll be on your way to eliminating bacteria and germs from the floor!
Note: The Kray spray mop is currently only available for purchase through Amazon (more on this later). The company does not have their own website—at the time of this writing, anyway.
The Kray Spray Mop is all that you’ll need to get perfectly clean floors. Equipped with a reusable microfiber pad, it can be used on virtually any surface including hardwood, ceramic, concrete, tile, and laminate. The way it’s designed, the integrated sprayer that will dispense the perfect amount of water each time—simply press on the trigger! With that, you won’t have to deal with buckets of water. What’s more, is that the mop is light and ergonomic, which makes it easy to maneuver around the house!
What’s Included
The Kray Spray Mop is rather simple in terms of design. Here are all the things that you’ll get with it:
- 1 Mop Head
- 1 Mop Handle
- 1 Refillable Water Tank
- 2 Reusable Microfiber Mop Pads
As noted above, the product comes with two microfiber cloths. Thick and absorbent, they’ll be all that you need to clean your floors. To attach it, all you need to do is line it up with the velcro at the bottom of the mop head. As long as you do it properly, it will remain secure throughout your mopping session. You won’t have to worry about scratches either as the material is incredibly soft!
Next, let’s take a look at the water tank aka the refillable compartment. Made out of plastic, it fits right into the body of the mop. To use it, all you need to do is fill it up with a cleaning solution (or water) and secure it in place. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to use the trigger to release a fine mist onto the floor. When you’re finished with the mop, remove the compartment, give it a good rinse with water and you’re ready for the next cleaning session.
Assembly
The mop is very easy to assemble despite there not being any instructions. Essentially, all you need to do is fit the parts together—that is, you want to insert the handle into the mop head and the compartment into the body. Once you’ve put it together, all that’s left is to stick a microfiber cloth to the bottom! Chances are, it’ll take you a minute tops (unless you have a defective unit).
Build Quality of the Kray Spray Mop
Some mops are made out of plastics while others are constructed out of metal. Ideally, you want to go for the latter as they’re much more durable. Aside from the handle, you also want to pay attention to the mop head. What type of material is it made of? Does it seem like it can handle a lot of cleaning? These are just some of the things that you might want to ask yourself when you’re shopping for a new mop.
As far as the Kray Spray Mop goes, it’s relatively well built. The handle, for one thing, is made from lightweight metal. In other words, the chances are of it snapping are rather low. The base of the mop, however, including the head, is made from plastic; the same goes for the trigger at the top of the unit. Sure, it might not be the sturdiest of materials, but it gets the job done.
Speaking of which, the refillable compartment is also made out of plastic. Really, when you think about it, that’s probably the best material that they could have used. Can you imagine if it was glass? Anyway, quality-wise, there’s nothing bad to say about the tank. As a matter of fact, it’s just the right size—it’s not too small yet not too big.
Next, the trigger. As mentioned earlier, it’s located at the top of the mop. To release the mist, all you have to do is press down on it. Depending on your unit, however, you might find that it’s a little difficult to use (possibly due to a design issue?). Anyway, we’ll talk more about that later.
Finally, the microfiber pads. As you can see in the images, they’re rather thick—you can pretty much think of them as mini towels. Even if you wash them repeatedly, they won’t wear down—that’s probably one of the best things about them! Size-wise, they fit perfectly onto the mop head; the velcro does a good job of securing them to the bottom.
Some Possible Issues With the Kray Spray Mop
As expected from most products, the Kray Spray Mop is not perfect. As it is, there are a few issues that you want to know about before making the purchase. Here are some of them:
The Sprayer Works Well Sometimes
The sprayer works well—most of the time. On Amazon, some customers have experienced issues where it will dispense cleaner even when you’re not pressing down on the trigger. As you can imagine, that can quickly lead to an over-wet floor, which can be counter productive when you’re trying to mop it clean. As far as we can tell, this is likely a QC issue with the sprayer. The good news, though, is that it doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem.
Not Ideal For Deep Cleaning Purposes
The Kray Spray Mop works well if you’re trying to get rid of dirt and dust. However, it’s probably not the best thing to use if you’re dealing with stains and caked-on messes. While the sprayer definitely helps, it’s hard to “scrub” with the mop, if that makes sense. If anything, it’s meant to just glide across the floor, picking particles up along the way. Given that, you might want to consider a different model if you’re looking for a mop that’s capable of deep cleaning.
Leaking Can Be An Issue
Despite the fact that it’s advertised as being leak-proof, the spray mop can leak. As a matter of fact, several people have experienced this issue on Amazon—that the compartment would leak water or cleaner while they’re mopping. Unfortunately, there’s no quick fix to this problem as it’s more of a quality issue than anything. Luckily, however, it only seems to affect certain units so you don’t have to worry about it too much.
It’s Not Super Compact
The Kray Spray Mop is a lot bigger than what it appears to be in the images. If anything, it’s not what you would call an “ultra-compact mop.” As such, it might not be the best tool to use if you have tiny spaces to clean (the mop head won’t be able to reach the nooks and crannies). At the same time, however, the size of the mop does make cleaning a lot quicker. At the end of the day, you have to decide whether or not it’s right for you.
Does It Clean Well?
Is the Kray Spray Mop versatile? Yes, it is. For one thing, it has no problem picking up a variety of particles from dirt to dust. Pet owners will also be happy to know that the microfiber pad is capable of removing animal hair. As far as spills go, you can definitely use it to mop up the mess. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll probably have to rinse the pad in the sink, which will require you to take it off the mop head.
Speaking of the mop head, it actually rotates 360 degrees for easy and efficient cleaning. In other words, you won’t have to strain your back trying to clean hard-to-reach places. Simply push it in the direction that you want it to mop! Cleaning behind furniture has never been easier. If you want, you can even use it to clean the corners of your walls!
While the product is suitable for cement (at least it’s advertised that way), it’s probably best used indoors. For instance, it’d be the perfect thing to clean your kitchen floors with. Given its size, it’s probably best for those who are living in a house. As long as you have adequate space, however, I don’t see why you can’t use it in an apartment or condo. Of course, it can also be used for commercial buildings as well.
Overall, the product is decent if you’re looking for something that’ll remove dirt and grit from the floor. While the sprayer works well, it’s not exactly something that you would want to use for deep cleaning purposes—it’ll probably have you yanking your hair! For stubborn stains and messes, you’re better of scrubbing it with a cloth or rag.
Cost and Pricing Information
One of the best things about the Kray Spray Mop is its price. To give you a better idea, it currently sells for $24.99 on Amazon, which is on the lower end as far as spray mops go. Of course, that also includes free shipping if you’re a Prime member. If anything, the only downside is that the product is not sold anywhere else. As far as we can tell, it is only available through Amazon (which really isn’t a bad thing when you think about it).
As far as “refills” go, the only thing that you’ll really need to buy is additional mop pads. Even with those, however, you won’t have to get any for a while—after all, it comes with two, which should last you many months (assuming that you care for them properly). Keep in mind, however, that Kray does not sell official mop pad refills. At the end of the day, you’ll have to buy some from a third-party brand. Fortunately, they’re quite cheap on Amazon—you just have to make sure the ones that you get are compatible with the product. Or if you’re handy, you can probably create your own using a piece of microfiber cloth or something similar.
Last but not least, let’s talk about the fact that it doesn’t require a specific cleaner. Instead of having to grab a certain product off the shelves, you can use anything you want. If you really wanted to, you could even mix your own cleaning agent—just pour whatever it is into the refillable cartridge and you’re ready to go! Of course, there’s also the option of using just plain water. As you can imagine, that will save you a lot of money in the long run.
