Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop Review

Mopping isn’t exactly a fun chore but it’s necessary if you want to keep your house clean. If anything, it’s the only way to remove dirt and grime from the floor. Not to mention germs! After all, we’re constantly bringing things inside from the bottom of our shoes. While you don’t have to bring out the mop every day, it’s a good idea to do it at least once a week. With that said, there are exceptions. For one thing, it’s probably a good idea to mop more frequently if your have pets.

What kind of mop should you use? Well, that depends. What kind of floor do you have? For example, you wouldn’t want to use a steam mop if you have unsealed hardwood; the moisture can easily damage the planks. At the end of the day, you want to make sure that whatever you get is suitable for your home.

Personally, we’re a fan of microfiber mops. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they’re also versatile in that you can use them on a variety of surfaces. In fact, that’s what we’ll be talking about today.

Ever heard of Eyliden? Because we’ll be removing your microfiber twist mop in this post. Keep reading to learn more about the topic!

The Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop

Eyliden isn’t a “big” brand per se, however, they have been on the market for several years. Aside from this particular product, they also sell carpet sweepers, dust mops, bucket systems, and more. You probably won’t be able to find their items in stores, though, as they mostly sell through Amazon.

The Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop is unique in that it’s self-wringing. In other words, you can actually squeeze the water out of the mop head without touching it with your hands. If you want, you can even use it as a dust mop; the microfiber material will automatically pick up dirt, dust, even pet hair. What’s more, is that it’s safe to use on most floors including hardwood, vinyl, laminate, granite, marble, and more.

What’s Included

Here are all the things that come with the Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop.

  • 1 Mop Handle
  • 2 Replacement Microfiber Mop Heads
  • 1 Instruction Manual

Assembly: This mop is real easy to put together. First things first, you want to assemble the handle. To do that, simply align the four poles. Once you’ve done that, you can connect the end to one of the microfiber mop heads. As listed above, it also comes with an instruction manual if you need it.

Like we mentioned above, the mop handle comes as four separate pieces. While it isn’t extendable, it is long enough (146cm) so that you can reach most places when you’re mopping.

As for the microfiber mop heads, you get two—so there’s one extra. The way it’s designed, you can easily attach it to the end of the handle. It’s also easy to take off as it comes with a twist-off design. Seeing as how it’s made of microfiber, it’s also washable. That is, you can reuse it many times. In fact, you can even put them in the washing machine if you’re careful. Given that, you shouldn’t need to buy refills for a while (unless you want to have more mop heads on hand, of course).

And that’s about it. As you can see, you will need to provide your own cleaning solution. The good news is that you can pretty much use anything as long as it’s suitable for your flooring. We recommend white vinegar if you’re looking for a natural option. Not only will it sanitize the surface, but it’ll also help to remove any odors.

Build Quality

Let’s face it, not all mops are made the same; some will be flimsier than others. And obviously, that’s not the kind that you want. Generally speaking, you want to invest in something that’s made of metal (stainless steel and aluminum are good choices) as opposed to plastic. While it might not be invisible per se, it will last much longer than those made of plastic.

How well built is the Eyliden Microfiber Mop? It’s decent. For one thing, it does have a metal handle. With that said, it does have a few plastic parts including the handle (it comes with a hole for easy hanging), middle grip, and the base, where it connects to the microfiber mop head.

In terms of the mop head, it’s nice and soft, as expected from microfiber. It’s also thick and fluffy, which makes cleaning easier (i.e. it soaks up a considerable amount of liquid). At the same time, however, it’s easy to wring out. To do that, all you have to do is lift up the head and twist the black plastic part—that will twist the microfiber material so that the water will come out. Then when you’re finished, you can place it back down.

Potential Cons

Does it surprise you that the Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop comes with cons? Here’s what you need to know.

It Can Scratch Your Floors If You’re Not Careful

There’s a piece that covers the plastic near the bottom of the mop head. If you’re not careful, it can come off. In other words, the plastic will be exposed to your floors and it can cause scratches. Just something to keep in mind when you’re using it.

It’s Sometimes Hard to Pull the Lever Up

The self-wringing mechanism is effective but it’s not always easy to use. For one thing, the lever can be hard to pull up sometimes when you’re wringing out the head. The good news is that despite that, it does work.

The Mop Head Is Rather Small

The mop head is rather small (it looks bigger in the images). That is, it doesn’t cover much ground. Given that, it might not be the best option for a decent-sized house. For a small apartment, however, it’ll probably do.

It Can Get Tangled Sometimes

Given the design of the mop head, it’s not surprising to know that it can get tangled sometimes. After all, the strands are rather long. Fortunately, it’s not too common of a problem so it’s not something major that you have to worry about it.

It’s Not Ideal For Those Who Are Left Handed

This mop works great if you’re right handed. That’s not to say that you can’t use it if you’re left-handed, things are just a little trickier. For example, you have to remember to twist the black piece counterclockwise when you’re wringing the head otherwise you’ll be unscrewing it.

It’s Not Designed For Scrubbing

Don’t expect to do any scrubbing with this mop—that’s not what it’s designed for. For one thing, there’s a high chance that the strands will get caught while you’re doing it. Plus, it won’t do a good job. You’re better off using something else if you need to scrub off a stain or spot.

The Mop Head Can Fall Off

With this mop, you have to make sure that the bottom is screwed on properly, otherwise, the mop head can fall off when you’re cleaning. As you can imagine, that’s not exactly efficient. Also, you want to make sure that it’s pulled down properly after wringing.

Does It Clean Well?

The mop works well, especially if you pair it with a cleaning solution. For one thing, you can count on the microfiber strands to grab dirt and other grime from the floor. The material is also thick enough so that you can use it for spills. Plus, the unit is relatively lightweight—this makes it a good option for those who aren’t able to use heavy duty mops.

Like we said earlier, the wringing mechanism also works well, as long as you use it properly, that is (refer to the instruction manual if needed).

Who Would We Recommend This Mop To?

  • Individuals who live in small apartments or condos
  • Individuals who are not a fan of manually wringing their mops

Cost and Pricing Information

The Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop isn’t very expensive at all with a retail price of $21.99 and that comes with free shipping if you get it on Amazon. Plus, there’s also a coupon that you can use that’ll give you an additional 15% off (limited time only).  With that, your total will end up being under $20 plus tax.

For those who are looking for extra microfiber mop heads, you can find them in their online store. They’re not the cheapest at $15.99 per pack (each pack comes with two) but at least you know that they’ll last you a while.

The Eyliden Microfiber Twist Mop features a self-wringing design that allows you to wring the head without having you touch it with your hands. Lightweight and compact, you can use it to clean most surfaces including laminate, hardwood, vinyl, and bamboo floors. If you want, you can even use it dry; the microfiber strands will pick up pretty much everything including dirt, hair, and dust. Sure, it might be on the small side but it gets the job done. Just don’t use it for scrubbing—it’s not designed for that.
