EXEGO Microfiber Spray Mop Review

The great thing about mops is that there are many different types that you can choose from. For example, there are string mops, steam mops, sponge mops, and flat mops. Spray mops are also a thing. Easy to use, they allow you to clean without the hassle of toting a bucket around.

Just press the trigger on the handle and the cleaning solution will automatically come out from the nozzle. In other words, mopping will be that much easier. Most are manually-powered as well so you won’t have to worry about batteries or dragging around a cord.

That’s not all, they also allow you to use your own cleaner (with the exception of a few)! So you won’t have to spend money on extra products; you can just use whatever you have that’s lying around the house. If you want, you can even create your own with white vinegar or something similar.

Interested in giving one of these mops a try? Wondering about the one by Exego? If so, you’re on the right page. We’ll be going over everything that you need to know about the product below including its features, advantages, drawbacks, and more—so make sure to read until the end!

The Exego Microfiber Spray Mop

Exego is a lesser-known brand that you can find on Amazon. As far as we can tell, they only started selling the product a month ago, which explains their lack of reviews. Aside from the spray mop, they also sell scrub brushes, and microfiber cleaning cloths, both of which are also available on the site.

Product Description

The Exego Microfiber Spray Mop is a powerful cleaning tool that you can use on hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, marble, bamboo, and cement. Easy to use, it comes with a 360-degree mop head that allows you to change the angle as you clean. Not only that, but it’s extra wide so you’ll be able to clean with less time. If you want, you can even use it as a dust mop—just switch to the chenille mop pads!

What’s Included In The Box?

  • 1 Spray Mop
  • 2 Microfiber Mop Pads
  • 1 Chenille Mop Pad
  • 1 Multifunctional Scraper

Assembly: Attach the top handle to the middle section; the small button on the pole should line up with the hole on the bottom portion. Next, insert the water bottle. Once you’ve done that, attach the mop head to the base. Last but not least, attach one of the mop pads to the bottom.

The Exego Spray Mop is pretty straightforward. The spray handle is at the top and there’s a foam handle in the center, which offers a more comfortable grip. As for the water tank, it’s located near the base. For your convenience, it is removable for easy refilling. Finally, there’s the mop head on the bottom, which measures approx. 16.1” x 6.5”.

Mop pads-wise, the product comes with two types—a microfiber pad and a chenille pad. The first is meant for wet mopping while the latter is meant for dusting (though you can use them with cleaning solution as well). They’re easy to put on as well. Just align the bottoms with the plastic velcro strips at the bottom. And when you’re done with the spray mop, you can peel them off and put them in the wash.

Last but not least, it comes with a small multi-functional scraper that’s attached to the mop handle. There are three surfaces—a toothed edge, a flat-edged, and one for fine brushing. And for those who are wondering, you can take it off of the handle, which makes it more convenient to use.

Build Quality

Always pay attention to the build quality. You want something that’s made of durable materials so that it will last. Generally speaking, this means a mop with a metal handle (aluminum and stainless steel are our top choices). Avoid those with plastic poles as they tend to break easily. Similarly, you want mop pads that are thick and absorbent. Stay away from those that are thin as they won’t be able to clean efficiently.

How Well Built Is the Exego Spray Mop?

The Exego Microfiber Spray Mop comes with an aluminum alloy pole, which is both lightweight and durable. The mop pads- both the microfiber and chenille variety- are also a decent thickness. The only thing is that the plastic parts are a bit on the thin side.

Pros of the Exego Spray Mop

Lightweight and Compact: The Exego spray mop is definitely on the light side, the handle being made out of aluminum alloy and all. Even when the tank is full, it won’t be very heavy. This makes it easy to maneuver around. For example, you can easily lug it up the stairs.

Extra Wide Mop Head: The mop head is much wider than the average spray mop. This means that it’ll cover more area with each swipe so that you’ll be able to clean faster. Not only that, but it swivels 360 degrees so you can easily clean behind and around objects.

Versatile: The Exego spray mop is versatile in that you can use it both wet and dry—it even comes with a special type of mop pad that you can use for the latter! Also, you can use it to clean many surfaces including bamboo, cement, and glass.

Reusable Mop Pads: Unlike other mops, you won’t have to deal with disposable pads. You can wash and reuse the ones provided again and again. Just don’t pop it in the dryer—the heat can distort the material.

A Few Drawbacks

Here are some issues that users have brought up about the Exego Microfiber Spray Mop.

Small Water Tank

The water bottle can hold up to 635ml of water. While that might seem like a lot, the liquid actually runs out pretty quickly when you’re using the mop. In other words, you’ll have to refill it often, which some might find to be a nuisance.

Thin Plastic Material

We mentioned this in the previous section but the plastic is quite thin; it’s not heavy-duty by any means. Given that, you’ll want to be careful when you’re using it. For example, you wouldn’t want it to fall onto the ground as that can cause it to crack.

Handle Isn’t Very Sturdy

The handle isn’t very sturdy. Don’t expect to put pressure on it and scrub—it’ll likely give out. You’ll want to use something else for heavy-duty cleaning.

Water Bottle Can Be Hard to Take Out

The water bottle sits at the base of the mop. The first few times you use it, however, it can be difficult to take out for refilling. The good news is that it usually gets easier after a while.

Mop Handle Isn’t Extendable

The mop measures approx. 49.2 inches from the bottom to the top of the handle. Unfortunately, it is not extendable so you’ll have to use it as is.

Extra Pads Can be Hard to Find

The product comes with three mop pads, which should be enough to get you started. After a while, however, you might need to get extras and that’s where things can get tricky. You see, the company doesn’t actually offer any pad refills. You’ll have to get some from a third-party brand.

Does It Clean Well?

The Exego Spray Mop gets the job done. While you won’t be able to scrub with it, it’ll take care of any dust, dirt, etc, that’s accumulated on the floor. The mop head is a decent size and the fact that it swivels 360 degrees make cleaning sessions that much easier. Keep in mind, however, that you will have to vacuum first to get rid of any large particles (e.g. hair, pet fur), otherwise, you’ll end up spreading them around with the mop.

Who Would We Recommend It To?

  • Those who are looking for something small and lightweight
  • Those who want to be able to use their own cleaning solution
  • Those who want to clean with a larger mop pad

Cost and Pricing Information

The Exego Microfiber Spray Mop goes for $32.99 on Amazon so it’s not the cheapest in terms of spray mops. However, it’s not the most expensive either. If anything, it’s mid-range. The good news, however, is that it does come with free shipping so you won’t have to pay anything extra for that.

Like we said earlier, the company doesn’t offer any replacement mop pads. You’ll have to buy some from a third-party brand (there are many of them out there, you just have to look around). There’s also the option of making your own from microfiber towels if you want to save some money.

Our Take
The Exego Microfiber Spray Mop is a lightweight and compact cleaning tool that you can use on multiple surfaces including hardwood, marble, bamboo, laminate, tile, and cement. Not only does it come with two microfiber pads, but it also comes with a chenille pad, which you can use for dusting purposes. The mop head is also extra-wide so you can clean more in a shorter period of time. Keep in mind, however, that it does have its drawbacks. For starters, the water tank isn’t very big. Also, the plastic material is quite thin so don’t expect it to last many years. It's still worth it, however, if you can get it for a good price.
