eufy by Anker RoboVac 11S Slim Review

Are robot vacuums worth it? Most would say yes. Sure, they’re a bit expensive compared to your regular vacuum but they’re capable of running themselves! In other words, you won’t have to do much to keep your house clean. If anything, that in itself is already worth the price tag.

And guess what? There are other benefits as well. For one thing, they’re small—small enough to fit under sofas, beds, and other furniture. Not only that, but they’re generally much quieter than your traditional vacuum. If you want, you can also program the robot so that it’ll run at certain times during the week. That way, you won’t even have to turn it on—it’ll automatically start cleaning when it’s time.

Depending on the vacuum, you might even be able to control it with your smartphone. In fact, some also allow for voice commands aka you’ll be able to control it with your voice!

Interested in investing in one of these machines? Not sure which model to get? How about the RoboVac 11S? It comes with several features and it won’t break the bank. For more information, read the rest of our review!

The Eufy RoboVac 11S Slim

Eufy is owned by Anker, a Chinese electronics brand. Aside from vacuums, they also manufacture alarm systems, baby monitors, indoor cameras, smart locks, video doorbells, and more. For those who are interested in their products, you can find them at many retailers including Home Depot, Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon. In addition to that, you can order directly from their website.

Product Description

The RoboVac 11S features an ultra-thin design that allows it to slide effortlessly under furniture. Don’t let its small size fool you, though, as it comes with 1300Pa of suction power. That’s not all, it’s equipped with large wheels that allow it to roll over carpets and climb over edges. And like most robots, it uses drop-sensing technology to avoid falling down stairs and ledges. Oh, and did I mention that it comes with a triple-filter system?

What’s In the Box?

Here’s a list of everything that you’ll get out of the box:

  • 1 RoboVac 11S
  • 1 Charging Base
  • 1 Power Adapter
  • 1 Remote Control
  • 4 Side Brushes
  • 2 Additional Filters
  • 1 Cleaning Tool

First, let’s take a look at the robot’s anatomy. At the top, there’s the auto cleaning start/stop button. And if you flip it over, you’ll see the various wheels and brushes. To be more specific, there will be two small brushes on the sides and a rolling brush near the bottom. That’s not all, the dust bin is also part of the unit. To take it out, press the release button, which is located at the back.

As far as the charging base goes, it’s pretty self-explanatory. To set it up, plug it into a wall outlet with the power adapter. Make sure to remove all objects in front of and beside the dock.

Then there’s the remote control (AAA batteries included). You can use it to schedule cleanings or change cleaning modes (e.g. auto, spot, edge). There’s also the option of adjusting the suction power with the top right button. Whatever’s selected will be displayed on the screen at the top.

Finally, there are the extra brushes and filters. As listed above, the eufy comes with two extra side brushes and two additional filters—one HEPA, one foam. Be sure to keep them in a safe place as you will need to use them a few months down the line.

Note: The RoboVac 11S does come with a cleaning tool that you can use to maintain the brushes.

Smart Features

Automatic Recharge

The RoboVac will automatically return to the charging base when the power is low. That way, it’ll always be prepared to vacuum. It will not, however, resume its previous job after charging.

Anti-Drop Technology

The RoboVac 11S is equipped with a drop sensor at the front of the machine, which will prevent it from falling down stairs and other “cliffs.”

Infrared Sensor

The robot vacuum is also equipped with an infrared sensor on the side of the machine. In other words, it should be able to evade obstacles that are in its path.

A Few Drawbacks

The Eufy RoboVac 11S is a decent vacuum, however, it does have a few cons, which we’ll be outlining below.

No Mapping Feature

As with most cheaper robot vacuums, this particular model does not come with a mapping feature. In other words, it won’t be able to create an accurate map of your house. Instead, it’s designed to clean in a random pattern. As a result, it can miss some spots here and there.

No Mobile App

The RoboVac 11S does not come with a mobile app. The only way to control it is via the remote control so make sure you don’t lose it, otherwise, you won’t be able to use it properly!

Dust Bin Is Difficult to Empty

The good news is that the dust bin is larger than those of other robot vacuums. The bad news is that it’s almost impossible to empty without making a mess. From the looks of it, it seems to be a design issue—you really have to pull it in order to get it out, which causes all the dust and dirt to go into the air.

It Doesn’t Do That Well With Hair

Don’t expect it to remove hair from your floor. If anything, it’ll get tangled up in one of the three brushes. Given that, it might not be the best choice if you share your home with pets.

Remote Control Is Weak

The remote control is convenient to use, however, its range is not the best. Generally speaking, you will have to be in the same room as the robot for it to work (ideally, within 6 feet).

Takes A Long Time to Return Home

The RoboVac 11S comes with an auto-charge feature. The problem, however, is that it can take a long time to get back since it doesn’t really know the layout of your house. Not to mention that it can get lost sometimes, in which case, you’ll have to go help it.

Doesn’t Do That Well On Carpet

The suction is a little weak on carpet and area rugs in comparison to hard floors. Not only that, but there’s a chance that it can get stuck on the edge when it’s transitioning onto the new surface.

It Will Eat Anything It Rolls Over

There’s no other way to say it—the RoboVac will eat anything that it rolls over. This includes things like phone cords, socks, pet toys, bathmats etc. So make sure to clear the room before running it.

Side Brushes Fall Off Easily

The side brushes tend to fall off easily and if you’re not watching the robot, you’ll have no idea where they are. As far as we can tell, this seems to be a design issue as several people have experienced the same problem.

It Can Get Stuck Under Furniture

Its slim profile allows it to clean under furniture. At the same time, however, it can get stuck under said furniture. For example, it can get stuck under sofas, beds, cabinets, etc.

How to Use the eufy RoboVac 11S

Start by installing the side brushes. Once they’re on, turn on the main power switch on the bottom of the device. From there, you can set up the charging base. Make sure to place it on a hard, level surface against a wall.

Place the RoboVac on the charging base (it needs to be fully charged before use); the charging pins should be in contact with the pins on the station.

Once it’s charged, you can start cleaning by pressing the auto button. Alternatively, you can press the start button on the remote control. As it is, there are a few modes that you can choose from including auto cleaning, spot cleaning, edge cleaning, single room cleaning, and manual cleaning.

Regular Maintenance

The dustbin has to be cleaned after each use. As for the filters, you should clean them once a week (you can clean them with a vacuum cleaner or with the provided cleaning brush). As for the rolling and side brushes, it’s best to clean them once per month. To remove the former, pull on the release tabs—that will unlock the brush guard so that you can lift the rolling brush.

Does It Clean Well?

The RoboVac 11S isn’t the strongest vacuum out there, but it will get the job done. Like we said earlier, though, it does clean in a random pattern so don’t expect it to get every inch of the floor. Also, it doesn’t do that well with hair and carpets. Not to mention that it has a habit of eating things that are scattered on the ground so make sure to pick everything up before using it!

Cost and Pricing Information

The RoboVac 11S is quite affordable as far as robot vacuums go. On Amazon, it’s currently listed for $199.99 and that includes free shipping.

If anything, it’s the accessories that you have to worry about and it’s not the price that’s the issue. The problem is that they’re pretty hard to come by (they’re almost always unavailable in their shop)—and that includes their filters, side brushes, battery packs, etc.

Our Take
The Eufy RoboVac 11S is an affordable robot vacuum that comes with more than one suction setting. While it doesn’t come with an app nor a mapping feature, it does do a decent job of cleaning as long as you pick up everything from the floor. Also, it does come with an automatic recharge feature so it’ll always be ready to be used. Keep in mind, however, that it doesn’t do that well with hair—chances are, it will get stuck on the brush. And speaking of brush, the ones on the sides have a tendency of falling off when the robot is running.
