E-Cloth Microfiber Mop Review

How often do you think about the floors in your house? Chances are, they’re dirtier than you think. After all, dirt can easily come in from your shoes! Not only that, but there are other things to worry about as well such as dust, food crumbs, and animal hair (assuming that you have a pet). Don’t want to live in such an environment? Then you’ll want to mop regularly—that’s the best way to keep everything clean.

But wait, what kind of mop should you use? As it turns out, there are quite a few types that you can get. For instance, some come with steaming capabilities while others are capable of vacuuming the floor. Of course, there are also more basic models such as the ones that come with a sponge or yarn head. At the end of the day, however, their purpose is the same—they’re designed to get rid of grime.

Can you guess what we’ll be talking about today? Microfiber mops. Yup, the ones that come with a microfiber pad. They might not be the most advanced in terms of technology but they work well! For one thing, most microfiber fabrics are treated with antibacterial chemicals. In other words, they’ll be able to kill off any bacteria that might be on the floor surface.

Which mop will we be focusing on in this post? The E-Cloth Microfiber Mop. How durable is the handle? Does the pad stay on the mop head? What kind of material is it made from? These are just some of the things that we’ll be taking a look at below. Keep reading to learn more!

The E-Cloth Microfiber Mop

E-Cloth is unique in that all of their products are chemical-free. Put it simply, you don’t have to use any cleaner with their mops—they’re designed to be used with just plain water. As such, you won’t be harming the environment (chemicals can easily leak into waterways and soils). How effective are they at sanitizing floors? Quite. According to Silliker, their products are capable of removing up to 99.9% of bacteria and mold! Interested in getting one? You can find them on their official website or on Amazon.

The E-Cloth Deep Clean Mop is designed to remove grease, dirt and bacteria from most hard floors including hardwood and laminate. Small and compact, it comes with an aluminium handle that can be extended from 3 to 5 feet. Not only that, but it’s super lightweight at just 1.4 pounds! If anything, you won’t have a problem manuevering it around objects and furniture. As mentioned earlier, you don’t need to use any type of cleaner either—just water will do! In other words, it’s both eco-friendly and sustainable.

What’s Included

The E-Cloth Microfiber Mop comes with all the bits and parts that you need to get started. Here’s a breakdown of everything that you’ll get:

  • 1 Aluminium Mop Handle
  • 1 Mop Head
  • 1 E-Cloth Microfiber Mop Pad

As you can see, the mop is quite straightforward—it comes with three things: the handle, the mop head, and the microfiber mop pad. Let’s talk about the mop pad first. The way it’s designed, it features a special weave pattern, which helps to break up dirt and grease. Not only that, but it’s capable of eliminating up to 99% of all bacteria with just water. Ultimately, that’s what sets it apart from other mop pads! What’s more, is that the pad is easy to attach as well. All you have to do is stick it to the head via the velcro strip and you’re good to go.

The other important thing that you’ll get is the handle. As indicated above, it’s made from high-quality aluminium. What makes it unique? It’s adjustable—you can extend it from 3 to 5 feet. As you can imagine, that’ll make your cleaning session much easier. You won’t have to bend over or reach for those hard to clean spots!

Assembly is super straightforward. Basically, all you need to do is insert the aluminium handle into the mop base. From there, you can adjust the length—simply twist the pole. Next, you’ll want to put on the mop head. Before sticking it onto the velcro, wet it under a faucet. Once you’ve wrung out the excess water, you can attach it (it’s easiest if you put the mop head on the floor—velcro side up).

Build Quality of the E-Cloth Mop

Quality is important when it comes to picking a mop. Who would want to get something that’ll break in a few days? That would only be a waste of money. Given that, it only makes sense for you to take a good look at how it’s built. Can’t find it in stores? Do your research online. Find out what kind of material it’s made from. Ideally, you want to pass on those that are made from plastic—metals, such as aluminium, are much more durable.

Like we said earlier, the E-Cloth Microfiber Mop consists of an aluminium handle. As such, it’s quite sturdy—much more so than those made out of plastic. That’s not to say that it doesn’t contain plastic, though; it does. Like most mops, the metal pole is reinforced with a plastic covering. In other words, it doesn’t affect the construction quality. At the top, there’s also a hook that allows for convenient storage.

As far as the extender goes, it comes with a screw-on lock, which allows you to “secure” the length. While it does what it’s supposed to do, it can loosen over time (you’ll have to re-tighten it). Generally speaking, however, it will stay in position.

Now that we’ve talked about the extendable handle, let’s take a look at the mop pad. If anything, it’s the highlight of the product! First things first, its construction. As mentioned earlier, each of the pads features a unique weave. Ultimately, it’s this weave that allows it to hold onto dirt and grease. Size-wise, it’s also big enough so that you can cover a lot of ground at once! On top of that, the velcro is strong and holds up well, even with repeated use.

You won’t have to worry about the pads coming apart in the wash either. As it is, the fibers are incredibly strong—they won’t be wearing down anytime soon, even if you toss them into the washer. In fact, that’s what you’re supposed to do! It’s probably worth mentioning that you’ll also have to rinse out the pad every now and then to get it “clean” again while you’re mopping (dirt and dust will stick onto it). Don’t worry, though, that won’t compromise it!

Some Possible Issues With the E-Cloth Microfiber Mop

The E-Cloth Microfiber Mop is great, don’t get me wrong. But still, no product is perfect. At the end of the day, it does have a few flaws that you should know about.

Not Ideal For Deep Cleaning

Given the size of the mop head, you won’t be able to dip and rinse it easily with water. What does this mean? It’s probably not the best product to use if you want something that you can rinse out constantly (that would allow you to clean more, faster). Put it simply, there’s no easy way to clean the floor with a cleaner. The only option would be to use a spray bottle every few minutes. As you can imagine, however, that can be quite tedious, especially if it dries out quickly. If anything, the mop is better as a dry cleaner/duster.

Rinsing the Pads Can Be Tedious

We mentioned this earlier but you can’t rinse/wash the microfiber pad without taking it off of the mop head. Assuming that you only have one pad, this will add to your overall cleaning time. Every time it gets “dirty”, you’ll have to take it off, walk to the sink, and rinse it. From there, you’ll have to stick it back onto the mop head. Don’t want to have to deal with this? Then consider getting another pack of pads—that way, you can just switch to a different one instead of having to wash the used one.

Handle Extender Can Loosen Over Time

The extendable handle comes with a screw-on lock, however, it’s not foolproof. Over time, it will become loose, especially if you use the mop on a regular basis. If this happens, you’ll have to re-tighten it. Depending on the size of the area, you might have to do this more than once during your mopping session, which can get tedious quickly. With that said, the screw-on lock system tends to work well in the beginning.

The Mop Tends to Squeak

The E-Cloth Microfiber Mop is not the quietest—it has a tendency of squeaking when you’re gliding it across the floor. As far as we can tell, this is an issue with the mop handle. In other words, it’s pretty much unavoidable. You’ll probably get used to it as some point, however, that doesn’t change the fact that it can get annoying.

Does It Clean Well?

The E-Cloth Microfiber Mop is a good choice if you’re looking for something that’s capable of light cleaning. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s good at; the pad will take care of all the dirt, dust, and animal hair that’s on your hard floors (for the best results, we suggest vacuuming beforehand). As effective as it may be, however, the pad tends to get dirty quickly. As a result, you’ll have to rinse it frequently while you’re cleaning.

Still, it’s probably one of the best eco-friendly mops that you can get. Not only are the microfiber pads reusable, but the way it’s designed, it does not require any chemical cleaners either. All you need to do is wet the pad with water—that’s all you have to do to get rid of the gunk and bacteria from your floors. When it comes to caked-on messes, however, you’ll probably want to use something else. Chances are, you won’t be able to press down adequately with this mop to scrub it off!

As far as spills go, the mop can be used to soak up the liquid. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll likely have to take off the pad and rinse it several times. After all, it’s not the most absorbent. Like we said earlier, it works better as a dry duster.

Cost and Pricing Information

The E-Cloth Mop sells for $39.99, which is on the higher-end as far as microfiber mops go. Don’t let that turn you off, though. If anything, it’s worth the money—after all, it’s better for the environment than other options.  Sure, it might cost you a bit more, but you’ll be able to do your part to protect the planet. Every once in a while, you might even find it on sale on Amazon! Of course, you can also get it through their official website (they offer free shipping from time to time).

And really, it’s just the mop that you have to pay for (aside from the pads, which we’ll talk about below). At the end of the day, you don’t need to use any kind of cleaner—it’s designed to be used with just water. In other words, you won’t have to spend money on unnecessary products. That might not seem like much, but it’ll save you a considerable amount over time. Even if you do want to use a cleaning solution, you’re not bound to a specific kind; you can buy whichever you want (or make your own!).

Last but not least, their microfiber pads. As stated throughout the article, you get one of them with the mop. Is that enough? It depends. Do you want to skip the hassle of having to rinse it over and over again while you clean? If so, it might be worth it to invest in another pack. How much are they? $13.99 each on Amazon (cheaper if you buy multiple at once). Assuming that you care for them properly, one pad will probably last you many months. If anything, it’s much more cost-effective than the disposable variety.

But wait—you can actually get the pads for even cheaper. As it turns out, there are many off brands that you can get that are compatible with the E-Cloth Mop. For instance, Think Crucial sells their own version of the microfiber pads for $14.99 (for a two-pack), which works out to be a little over $7 each! Search around on Amazon—you’ll find many results. As long as it fits on the mop head, you’ll be able to use it with the product (here’s a tip—check the reviews)!

Our Take
Looking for something eco-friendly? Look no further—consider the E-Cloth Microfiber Mop. Unlike others on the market, it does not require the use of any chemical cleaners. All you have to do is wet the pad with water—that will be enough to get rid of ~99% of all bacteria! What’s more, is that it comes with an extendable handle. In other words, you’ll be able to reach hard-to-clean areas quickly and easily! Not to mention that the whole thing is super lightweight—it’s only 1.4 pounds! Just keep in mind, however, that it’s not best for deep cleaning. The mop also has a tendency of squeaking, which can be annoying for some.
