Deerma Spray Mop Review

Not a fan of mopping the floor? Looking for a more convenient way to clean? If so, why not invest in a spray mop? Basically, they’re mops that come with a sprayer that you can use to dispense cleaning solution onto the floor. In other words, you won’t have to hold a spray bottle in one hand while you’re mopping—you can just press the trigger on the handle!

That’s not all, there’re also versatile in that you can use them to wipe a variety of surfaces. For example, you can use them to clean hardwood, vinyl, laminate, tile, etc. You won’t have to worry about it scratching your floor or anything like that as the pad is usually made of a soft, non-abrasive material.

Plus, they’re affordable! It depends on what you get but you can easily get one for under $40—and that includes the Deerma Spray Mop, which we’ll be talking about today.

The Deerma Spray Mop

Deerma is a relatively new company that specializes in household appliances. Aside from spray mops, they also sell humidifiers, vacuums, steamers, dehumidifiers, and more—and they can all be found on their Amazon store.

Product Description

The Deerma Spray Mop is designed for hard floors such as those made of laminate, hardwood, tile, and ceramic. Easy to use, it comes with a spray trigger at the top, which you can use to spray as much or as little cleaner as you want. Also, it’s incredibly lightweight. In other words, you’ll be able to move it easily from place to place while you’re cleaning. The best part? It comes with a total of nine mop pads so you won’t have to get refills for a while.

What’s In the Box?

Assembly: Attach the top handle to the piece with the refillable bottle. From there, attach the bottom of the pole to the mop base (it should click in place). Finally, add a mop pad to the base and you’re done.

First, let’s take a look at the mop. As far as the mop head goes, it rotates 360 degrees so that you can easily get around corners, etc. The handle itself is also long (1.2m) so you can use it to clean hard-to-reach areas. And for those who are wondering, the spray mop weighs 0.75kg, which is less than the weight of two iPad minis!

As for the water bottle, it can hold up to 350ml of liquid (you can use most detergents and soaps), which should be enough to clean a 100m area. Also, it’s removable you can fill it up at the sink if you want to.

Last but not least, it comes with 9 mop pads (8 extras). Made of microfiber, they’re soft, durable, water-absorbing, and reusable. To attach them, all you have to do is press it onto the bottom of the mop—there are small velcro tabs that will hold it in place.

Build Quality

The Deerma Spray Mop comes with a stainless steel pole that’s resistant to bending. As for the rest of the mop, it’s made of a durable ABS material, which is less likely to crack than regular plastic (the refillable bottle is hard and does not bend).

And the mop pads, as mentioned earlier, are made of microfiber fabric. Reusable, you can put them in the laundry when you’re done cleaning. As long as you don’t put them in the dryer (the heat can distort the material), they should hold up well.

A Few Pros

One of the greatest things about this particular mop is its size. That is, it’s small and lightweight, which makes it easy to maneuver. For one thing, you can easily lug it up a flight of stairs. And since it’s hand-operated, you won’t have to worry about any cords.

Its swivel head is another pro. Like we said earlier, it rotates 360 degrees so you can use it to clean narrow spaces. At the same time, it won’t flip when you’re trying to mop.

Then there are the pads. They’re soft and thick and do a great job of cleaning. The fact that they clean well in the washing machine is another plus.

Finally, there’s no restriction on what kind of cleaner you have to use. In fact, you can pretty much use whatever you want! What this means is that you won’t have to spend money on another product.

Drawbacks of the Spray Mop

Quality Issues With the Sprayer

Several people have experienced issues with the sprayer where it either doesn’t work or stops working after a while. Considering how common the problem seems to be, it might be a quality issue with the product.

Cleaner Can Leak 

The bottle isn’t 100% secure—that is, leaks can happen. To make matters worse, it can also leak out from the bottom, where the mist comes out. In fact, many people have run into that problem a few months into using the mop. As you can imagine, that’s not exactly what you want to deal with when you’re mopping the floor.

Not For Heavy Cleaning 

You can’t scrub with this mop—it’ll only remove dirt, etc from the surface. For example, you won’t be able to clean the grout lines of your tiles with it. You’ll have to use something else instead to scrub.

Inaccurate Reviews 

If you look on Amazon, you’ll see that the product has a 4-star rating with over 800 reviews. If you take a closer look, though, you’ll see that not all of them are authentic. Just something to keep in mind for those who judge an item based on ratings.

Bottle Size 

The refillable water bottle isn’t very big, which makes sense given the size of the mop. In other words, you’ll have to refill it quite often (one bottle will be enough to clean a 100m area) when you’re mopping.

Breaks Easily 

The consensus seems to be that the mop breaks easily. For example, many people have had the mop base break on them after a few uses. There’s also a problem with a grommet at the base of the unit where it’ll come off easily.

No Warranty

Unfortunately, this spray mop doesn’t come with a warranty or a money-back guarantee. So if anything happens after the 30-day window on Amazon, you won’t be able to get your money back.

Does It Clean Well?

As far as spray mops go, this one is fairly effective. The mist covers a large area and the mop pad does a decent job of lifting dirt and other debris. As always, however, it’s recommended that you vacuum first—that way, there won’t be any large particles (e.g. pet hair, fur) in the way while you’re mopping, which can potentially cause scratches. Keep in mind, though, that it’s not designed for heavy cleaning (you won’t be able to clean your groutlines with it, for example).

If anything, the problem is with the mops durability. Put it simply, it’s not made to last. The sprayer tends to stop working after a while and the base can snap and break. The same goes for the bottle—it can end up leaking. Also, we want to point out that it’s not designed for heavy cleaning. That is, it won’t be enough to get rid of any caked-on messes.

• People who want to be able to use their own cleaner
