CXhome Spray Mop Review

Want to keep your house nice and tidy? Then don’t neglect the floors! As it is, they can get quite dirty. No matter how clean you try to be, dirt and other debris will find its way to the ground—this is especially true for high traffic areas (e.g. hallways, kitchens). Left to their own devices, things will build-up. As you can imagine, that can have an impact on your wellbeing. For instance, dust can lead to coughing or other symptoms. Don’t forget, it can have an effect on your the quality of your floors as well. For one thing, small particles can lead to scratches, which aren’t exactly sightly. Given that, you’ll definitely want to take out the mop every once and a while!

Speaking of mops, how familiar are you with them? Did you know that there are many different types? For example, there are looped-end mops, dust mops, spin mops, microfiber mops, and sponge mops. While they’re all meant for cleaning, they do have their individual perks—that is, some are better than others for certain tasks. Take steam mops, for instance, they’re one of the best tools that you can use to sanitize the floor. Looped-end mops, in contrast, are more traditional; they’re great for wiping up big messes.

What will we be talking about in this post? Spray mops! To be more specific, we’ll be taking a look at the Cxhome Spray Mop. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, they’re essentially mops that come with a sprayer. In other words, it allows you to wet the floors with cleaner before mopping—this makes it easier to remove gunk and grime. How effective is this particular model? Does the spray system work well? What are some of its drawbacks? These are some of the things that we’ll be discussing below.

The Cxhome Spray Mop

Cxhome is a relatively new brand. Judging from their Amazon page, they sell a variety of items—not just mops. For instance, their catalog also includes thermometers, toothpaste dispensers, and food clips. As far as we can tell, their products are not available for purchase anywhere else. In fact, they do not even have their own official website. Don’t let that turn you off, though. Their products are great for what they are, especially when you consider the prices.

The Cxhome Spray Mop comes with a spray nozzle that releases just the right amount of moisture for you to clean the floors with. Not only is it lightweight, but it comes with a 360-degree rotating head for easy maneuverability. Cleaning around corners and edges will be a piece of cake! What’s more, is that it uses a reusable pad. In other words, you won’t have to constantly buy refills, nor will you be contributing to the landfill! Simply add your favorite cleaning solution and clean away!

What’s Included

As expected, the Cxhome Spray Mop comes with all the parts that you need to start mopping right away. Here’s a breakdown of everything that you’ll get:

  • 2 Microfiber Reusable Cleaning Pads
  • 1 Refillable Liquid Container
  • 1 Mop Base
  • 1 Mop Handle (With 1 Middle and 1 Lower Pole)

As you can see, the mop comes with two microfiber pads. Featuring a velcro design, they are super easy to use. All you need to do is stick them onto mop base—the velcro strips will keep them secure during your cleaning session. When you’re finished mopping, just peel it off from the bottom and put it in the washing machine!

Being a spray mop, it only makes sense that it also comes with a refillable liquid container. Essentially, this is where you’ll be putting your cleaner. Once you’ve filled it up, attach it to the body of the mop—there’s a slot where you can put it (refer to the image above). To keep it clean, you’ll want to rinse it with water when you’re done.

Last but not least, there’s the mop base and handle, the latter of which consists of two parts—a middle and lower pole. As mentioned above, you’ll want to attach the microfiber pad to the base.

Assembly

Assembly is straightforward. First things first, you want to put together the handle. To do that, press on the white button—that will allow you to connect them. Next, place the bottle in place (fill it up with a cleaner beforehand). Once you’ve done that, attach the lower part of the mop to the base—there should be a small click. Finally, place one of the microfiber cleaning pads onto the mop base.

Build Quality & Review of the Cxhome Spray Mop

How can you tell if a mop is good quality? Take a look at the materials. Ideally, you want to stay away from ones that are made from plastic. Why? They tend to be more fragile. Instead, go for something that’s made from metal (e.g. stainless steel, aluminium)—they’re generally much more durable.

How well built is the Cxhome Spray Mop? In order to answer that question, we’ll have to take a closer look at its construction. First things first—the handle. As with most spray mops, it is made from some sort of metal. That’s not to say that it doesn’t contain plastic, though. If you look closely, you’ll notice that there are plastic parts near the joints. In fact, the trigger itself is also plastic. The way it’s designed, however, your hands won’t get tired even if you’re using it for a long time.

As you can see in the photos, the mop base is also made from plastic. It might not be as durable as something made from metal but it helps to prevent scratches. What’s more, is that the material adheres tightly to the velcro on the bottom of the microfiber cloth.

Next—the refillable compartment. Naturally, it’s made from plastic as well. For what it is, it works well. Quality-wise, we have no complaints. If anything, it’s just what we’d expected.

Finally, let’s talk about the microfiber pads. Compared to some of the other ones that we’ve used in the past, these ones are thick. They’re also a lot longer, which makes them easier to use. As mentioned earlier, the velcro strips work well as well. We haven’t had any issues with it falling off while we’re mopping. On top of all that, the material holds up well in the wash—it won’t fray or shrink as long as you don’t put it in the dryer.

Some Possible Issues with the Cxhome Spray Mop

The Cxhome Spray Mop does have a few drawbacks. Here are a few things that you might want to consider if you’re on the fence:

Refillable Bottle is Small

The refillable compartment is definitely on the small side—you won’t be able to add that much cleaner in one go. In other words, there’s a high probability that you’ll have to refill it while you’re mopping, which can slow down your process. Having said that, there is a benefit to having a smaller bottle—the mop won’t be as heavy aka it will be easier to maneuver.

Trigger Is Not The Most Durable

As mentioned earlier, the trigger is made of plastic. Given that, it’s not surprising that some people have experienced issues with it. Put it simply, it’s not the most durable. After a while, you might find that it doesn’t work as well as before. In some cases, it might even stop working altogether. Unfortunately, there’s not much that you can do once that happens. With that said, not all units will have this problem. At the end of the day, it has to do with how the individual mop was put together.

Jet Spray System Is Not Perfect

The jet spray system works as intended—cleaner will come out of the nozzle if you press down on the handle. The only thing is, that the liquid doesn’t really come out as a mist; it’s more of a light stream than anything. On top of that, you can’t predict the direction that it will spray in. For instance, it might spray onto the wall—you never really know until you press down on the trigger. Just something to keep in mind before you make the purchase.

Mop Head Is On the Small Side

Looking for something with a big mop head? If so, you’ll probably want to go for something else. As it is, the Cxhome Spray Mop is rather small. Compared to other mops, you won’t be able to cover as much area, which may be a hassle if you have large rooms to clean. The fact that it’s small does contribute to its lightweight factor, however.

Does It Clean Well?

The Cxhome Spray Mop is a good choice if you’re looking for a cheap spray mop. Sure, the jet spray might not be perfect, but it does what it’s supposed to do—press down on the handle and cleaner will come out from the nozzle. From there, all you need to do is move the mop across the floor and it will pick up most of the dirt and debris from the ground—including pet hair. You can use it on a variety of hard surfaces including laminate, tile, hardwood, and marble. For the best results, consider using the vacuum first before using the mop—that way, you won’t have to deal with large debris.

While the handle itself isn’t extendable, the mop head does rotate. In other words, you can easily maneuver it around objects and furniture. If you want, you can even use it on other surfaces such as the wall, windows, or ceiling. What’s more, is that the mop comes with a multi-functional scraper. You can use it to remove hair, dust, or other debris from the microfiber pad—simply move it across the material.

Keep in mind, however, that the mop is not meant to be used dry. You won’t be able to pick up much from the floor without using a cleaner. In fact, you might find that it tends to push particles around. If you’re looking for a dust mop, this is not it. To maximize the potential of the product, you’ll have to use it with a cleaning solution.

To summarize, the Cxhome Spray Mop is a great option if you want something that will remove gunk from your hard floors. As long as you don’t use it forcefully, the handle should last a while. The fact that it comes with a 360-degree rotational head also means that it’s easy to manuever around items. Given its small size, it’d be perfect for those who are living in small apartments or condos; those who are living in larger houses, however, might want to opt for something else.

Cost and Pricing Information for the Cxhome Spray Mop

One of the best things about the Cxhome Spray Mop is how affordable it is. Currently, it is listed for $20.95 on Amazon, which is definitely on the cheap side. What’s more, is that you can get a discount (up to 15%) if you “subscribe and save”—this might be a good option for those who want to have more than one mop in the house! On top of all that, there are coupons every once in a while. For instance, there’s an 8% off coupon at the time of this writing.

Now you’re probably wondering—“what about refills?” Well, you’ll be happy to know that extra microfiber pads are quite cheap. You can get a pack of four for $9.99, which works out to be around $2.50 each. Remember, they’re washable so you’ll be able to get a lot of uses out of each and every one of them. We recommend having a few extras on hand—that way, you won’t have to constantly rinse the pads with water while you’re cleaning. Because trust me, they will get dirty fast!

Aside from mop pads, the only other thing that you’ll need is a cleaner. Unlike the Swiffer, you can pretty much use any product that you like—simply pour it into the plastic bottle and you’re good to go. If you want to save money, you can even make your own solution out of things that you have sitting around at home. For instance, you can mix together water and vinegar—the latter will not only disinfect the floor, but it will help to get rid of odors as well.

Our Take
The Cxhome spray mop's small size and maneuverability makes it a great choice for apartments or other confined spaces. The microfiber pads are compatible with pretty much any floor type and can be washed and reused. You'll need to refill the bottle often if you are doing a lot of spraying but again, if you're working in smaller spaces it shouldn't be an issue. Overall the Cxhome mop is a solid budget spray mop.
