Not only will it get rid of dust and dirt, but it’ll also remove stains and messes—all you need is to add a little bit of cleaner. But wait, not all mops are the same. The BOOMJOY Squeeze Flat Mop

BOOMJOY is a brand that’s only available on Amazon. Aside from mops, they also sell dusters, toilet brushes, window squeegees, floor scrubs, and more. While they’re not a big company per se, their products have gained a bit of attention over the past few years. How can we tell? By the number of reviews that they have on the site. Take their Squeeze Mop, for example—it’s garnered nearly 200 ratings, most of which are positive!

The BOOMJOY Squeeze Mop is designed for most hard surfaces including hardwood, laminate, tile, marble, and more. Aside from the floor, it can also be used to clean ceilings and windows. Light and flexible with a 360-degree swivel head, you can fit it under most furniture and objects for a thorough cleaning.

Rinsing the pad is easy too since it comes with its own bucket system. Simply fill the “wash” side with water and insert the mop vertically. From there, you can clean it by moving it up and down. When you’re finished, you can drain away the dirty water by opening the lid. That’s all there is to it!

What’s Included

As with all mops, the BOOMJOY comes with all the parts that you need to put it together and start cleaning. Here’s a breakdown of everything that comes with the box:

As you can see, the mop itself is quite simplistic. Given that, it’s not surprising to know that it’s easy to assemble. It comes with instructions but basically all you have to do is attach the poles together and put it on the mop base. From there, you can put the microfiber pad onto the bottom.

The highlight, however, is probably the bucket—after all, that’s what you’ll be using to squeeze the mop. It might not be obvious from the images but there are two openings on the top; one is for washing and the other one is for drying. There’s also an anti-slid handle, which makes carrying the bucket from one place to another super easy. When you’re done with the bucket, simply pour out the dirty water and put the lid back on.

In terms of the cleaning pads, you get three. Made from microfiber material, they’re designed to absorb water quickly. Not only that, but the individual fibers will securely hook onto and remove dust, dirt, and hair. Soft to the touch, they are safe to use for any type of flooring.

Build Quality of the BOOMJOY Squeeze Mop

The BOOMJOY is pretty decent when it comes to quality. Unlike some other mops, which come with a plastic handle, this one’s made from stainless steel. In other words, it’s a lot more durable. With that said, you still want to use it with care. The last thing that you want is to snap it accidentally with too much force!

Move upwards and you’ll notice a brown portion. That’s the Soft Touch Foam Handle. It offers a better grip and allows you to clean easier. On the opposite side, is the flexible mop head. As you can probably tell from the photos, it’s made from white plastic. Don’t let that turn you off, though—if anything, the plastic is made so that it prevents your floor and furniture from getting damaged.

Similarly, the bucket is also made from plastic. However, it is very sturdy. For one thing, it’s not prone to tipping over. The handles are also strong enough so that you won’t have to worry even if you’re moving it full of water. At the same time, it’s also light enough so that you can empty it easily. It doesn’t take up a lot of space either so you can fit it in the corner when you’re not using it.

Finally, the microfiber pads. Size-wise, they fit perfectly onto the mop head. They’re thick and relatively high quality too. Flip them over and you’ll see a velcro tab that you can use to stick it on. The best part is that they’re machine washable. So when you’re done everything, you can toss them in for a clean.

Some Possible Issues with the BOOMJOY Squeeze Mop

The BOOMJOY Squeeze Mop does have a few drawbacks, though, and we’ll be going over some of them:

Not Great For Side to Side Movement

The mop works great when you’re moving it straight up and down. If you move it side to side, however, the sections can loosen. After a few minutes, they might come undone altogether, which as you can imagine, can add extra time to your cleaning. Just something to keep in mind before you make a purchase.

The Bucket Doesn’t Wet the Entire Mop 

The mop head won’t get wet completely when you insert it into the bucket. Even if you push it all the way down, the top edges will remain dry. In other words, you won’t be able to mop with the entire pad. Fortunately, you can fix this problem by giving the bucket a gentle shake while the pad is inside. But at the end of the day, it adds to the list of things that you have to do.

Possible Streak Marks

Depending on the type of floor that you have, the mop may or may not leave streak marks. One way to prevent this is by drying it thoroughly with the bucket. The kind of cleaner that you’re using might also have something to do with it.

Bucket Takes Some Getting Used To 

The bucket can take some getting used to. For one thing, there are four ways that you can insert the mop —but only one way is the right way! You also have to make sure that the bottom lines up perfectly, otherwise, you’ll have to adjust it with your bare hands, which will defeat the purpose of using a hands-free bucket in the first place.

Does It Clean Well?

The BOOMJOY cleans very well. The best part is that it doesn’t take a lot of strength! It might take some figuring out at the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, cleaning will be a lot easier. Given that you use the bucket properly, you won’t have to touch the wet mop at all. If you want the mop to be a little drier for a certain area, just run it through the squeeze side again.

Given the bucket, rinsing is also a breeze. Instead of having to detach the pad and wash it at the sink, you can just insert it into the rinse side of the bucket. It definitely saves a lot of time, which is one of its selling points.

As far as the pads go, they do what they’re supposed to. They’re capable of removing most dirt, hair, and dust from the floor. The only thing is that they don’t have an abrasive surface so it might not be the best if you’re tackling a large stubborn stain. In cases like that, you might have better luck with a scrubber or sponge.

For all that it comes with, the BOOMJOY is quite affordable. Remember, you not only get the mop, but you also get three microfiber pads and a bucket. In terms of refills, the microfiber pads are really all you need. The three that it comes with will probably last you a while but if you want extras, BOOMJOY sells 3-packs for $16 (a little over $5 each). There are also pads from third-party brands that you can get that are a little cheaper. You just have to make sure that they’re compatible size-wise. If you look at the product description, it’ll probably tell you which mops you can use them for. 

Remember, you don’t need to buy any sort of special cleaner for this mop. You can use any kind of solution you want—that’s one of the reasons why it’s so great. You could even use just plain water if you wanted to! At the end of the day, all that matters is what works for your floor.
